Hey music friends! Halifax Electronic Live Music Collective will be hosting Open Mic for the Carnival of Sight and Sound coming up in November!

We're looking for bands, singer/songwriters, live electronic music producers, anyone else who is interested in playing some tunes on a Saturday :) We'll probably do our usual HELM thing and havr a workshop as well!

Signups open now via the shared FB page and google form. Get em in ASAP!

SEEKING: Bands! Singer-Song Writers! Dancers! DJs! Producers! Performers! Painters! Poets! Comedians! Drag Artists! Anything outside those boxes or in between—come one, come all!

Free Range Pros is calling for all local visual, musical, movement and vocal artists to apply to showcase their talents on stage at the inaugural multidisciplinary Carnival of Sight & Sound happening this November 8-10th.

A celebration of local talent supporting our local artists!

Hello HELMians! HELMagonians? HELMuts?

WHATEVER. Now that festival season is over, let's get this get together... together!

Sunday September 22nd, 2024 at the Halifax Commons we'll have our last *outdoor* gathering for the year (yes, we're planning another showcase in the fall... more coming soon!).

Bring your battery powered rigs, your love of gear, love of music, and heck anything else you think might make the time good!

We'll get an event up soon, see you in a couple of weeks!

What an awesome night!

First off we’d like to thank Gus’s pub for allowing us to host our first show/workshop!

Second everyone that came and show up supporting our collective, you all rock and we hope you enjoyed the event!

Third is a special thanks to Bass Busterz Earrings for coming and helping out as well as setting up their amazing booth! It was awesome to have you guys on and the booth was spectacular! 🖤

Fourth a huge thanks to Spiffy Labs what an awesome workshop! Was a great experience and thank you for going so far in-depth with your workshop about understanding lighting and how it reacts to sound in so many different ways!

ONE WEEK LEFT until Analog Stank Vol.1! We have two performer spotlights left to go, today we're looking at JustDavens!!

Below we have a hot off the presses cover of a cover of a remix! Check out JustDave's version of Meute's cover of Dennis Ferrier's remix of "Hey Hey"!

Biography:
JustDave is a one man band based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, who creates a unique blend of music combining elements of rock, pop, electronic, funk, blues, house and techno. JustDave is the alias of 43 year old musician Dave Mackenzie, who has been playing and composing music for over 15 years.
Dave has played numerous instruments since he was a child, and as an adult has focused on guitar, piano, singing, and electronic instruments like drum machines, sequences, synthesizers, and loopers. He creates an array of tracks by himself, as if a small orchestra was present in the room. In addition to creating his own original music, Dave is known for his impressive covers of existing songs replicating the sounds of the original artists, while also adding in his own unique flair. Dave Mackenzie as JustDave brings a unique and eclectic sound that can’t be found anywhere else.

Unfortunately we are canceling the meet up for tomorrow at the commons. We are moving the date to July 16th at the same spot, sorry for any inconveniences. We’ll have some stickers to give out come July 16th and if you an artist feel free to send your info to us before hand. We have some exciting news coming up so stay tuned!

Sunday June 25th we are planning on doing a meet up in the Halifax commons! We might spark inspiration off each other so feel free to bring your battery powered gear and come say hello! We'll be spending the afternoon hanging out, enjoying the sun and getting to know the people in our community!

Bring a chair, proper sun protection and good conversation! If your interested in synths come on down and hang out with us! If you are an artist looking to get booked to future shows/workshops stop down and give us your information/chat!

We ask people to respect the environment and space of others well we enjoy each others company!

Artist Feature! Welcome to HELM Friendly Party Town!

Friendly Party Town is a new music performance artist out of Halifax, NS -- Performing complete, live, improvised techno sets using a portable, custom-designed eurorack modular system and drum machine.
Because Friendly Party sessions are improvised, each set is wholly unique. There’s no planned setlist. No prepared tracks. No memory saved in the eurorack. No DJing. It’s a spontaneous creative performance brought to life in the moment, every time. Sets flow from rhythm to rhythm, built up and torn down using only the music tools at hand. It’s old school spirit meets new school tech. It’s raw. It’s fresh. A little messy. A bit punk. A bit jazz. Always groovy.
Check out Friendly Party Town on Youtube. New sets are posted at least once per week. There will be expanded video content around the project coming too; such as system overviews, module and workflow walkthroughs, and more.
