Some things Iā€™ve learned while working on my mental health this past year:

-Neutrality can be your best friend ā€” it is what it is!
-Align your behaviour with your values.
-Ask yourself, ā€œWhy donā€™t I deserve that?ā€ You do ā€” all the good things, even if it feels impossible.
-Hyper-independence is isolation.
-Actively listen ā€” respond, donā€™t react.
-You are multifaceted! There are no rules or boxes!
-Doing more of the things you love is grounding.
-Allow yourself to give outward love and affection.
-Being authentic is more important than being liked.
-Unmasking can be difficult and lonely, but you deserve to accept yourself and unleash that on the world.
-Your more neurotypical friends just might not *get it.*
-Your ADHD might not look like everyone elseā€™s ADHD ā€” surprise!
-Give yourself a *self-compassionate* kick in the butt.
-Build a routine you actually like.
-Let go of labels.
-Avoidance = a lack of connection = loneliness.
-You need to draw fulfillment from yourself and internal factors, not just your career and other external things.
-Live slower.
-Be gentle with yourself.
-My favourite: vulnerability is only scary if you care about other peopleā€™s acceptance.

Take what you need, leave what you can. Please share your personal favourite revelations. If thereā€™s one other thing Iā€™ve learned, itā€™s that talking and sharing and being honest can really help others feel seen, feel heard, and feel that new horizons are only a few steps away. At least thatā€™s what youā€™ve all told me. šŸ«¶

reminds us to never stop living out loud. This year is all about supporting youth mental health. Today you can text YOUTH to 45678 to donate $5 and Bell will match it. See where the money stays in New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada @ bell.ca/letstalk šŸ’™
