2020 is turning out not to be a year for events like quilt shows and sales. Westmount United Church in Orillia hosts quilt sales every year to raise money for charities supported by their women. This year, an on-line quilt sale has been organized for September 2 - 16. Quilts pictures and prices are already posted so you can look now at "On Line WCW Quilt Sale." June 2020 -- "Dragonfly Moon" quilt was one of 10 finalists in an international competition with 100s of entries at Keepsake Quilting. Quilt measures 90"x90". It represents my interpretation of Patti Carey's "Butterfly Beauty" pattern and Nancy Johnston of Minesing freehand quilted. Thank you to everyone who voted for me -- happily, the quilt was voted #3 with 5,000 voters! The quilt is for sale now - $2,600.

Everytime I look at this I reach for sunglasses. Enjoyed the challenge of making a lone star & liked the effect of the e2e star quilting pattern.

Miss Gayle completed Debra's Lonestar Quilt class at Threads and added her own creative touch with the borders!! Great job Gayle!!

"Cabbage Patch," 2017, by Gayle Larmond, based on "Window Box" pattern in "Strip Therapy 6" by Brenda Henning. I loved the chance to use Kaffe Fassett cabbage fabric as an offset strip and as applique. Quilted with a hummingbird/leaf pattern.

Wonderful innovation!

Much has changed in a century! I am grateful for advances to the industry that allow fir so much freedom to create! -How long have women been quilting by Machine? Most certainly it was happening within a few years of the invention and adoption of the use of the sewing machine in the home (think 1880's here). The earliest picture I have yet found is of this c.1914 picture of quilting IN A FRAME with a treadle powered machine! The Kentucky Historical Society, Frankfurt. Yep, that long....

The latest in strip piecing brought to life with Kaffe Fassett cabbages and a Hummingbird quilting pattern. I called this quilt "Happy Song." By Miss Gayle.

Quilts are hung in the Collingwood Library until August 29th -- 12 quilts plus smaller wallhangings and chenille mats. Looks awesome!
