Are you an Edmonton based, director or producer with a remarkable film, video, or online work? We invite you to submit your film for the prestigious Edmonton Film Prize!

This prize program is coordinated by the Edmonton Arts Council, in collaboration with the City of Edmonton - Local Government, in partnership with the Alberta Media Production Industries Association (AMPIA), and our community partners, to enhance Edmonton’s reputation as a hub for extraordinary creation in the arts. The primary prize recipient in each category will be awarded $15,000 and two secondary prizes of $5000 will be awarded to the runner-ups.

A huge congratulations to veteran filmmaker and valued DOC Alberta member, the lovely, supportive, and talented Bonnie Thompson, on being the recipient of the 2023 Don Haig Award at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival!

The Don Haig Award is presented to an outstanding Canadian independent producer with a feature-length film at the Festival, with the recipient being selected by a jury of independent filmmakers. The Award recognizes creative vision and entrepreneurship, as reflected in the recipient’s body of work, as well as a track record of mentoring emerging Canadian filmmakers. Bonnie is the producer behind Echo of Everything (D: Cam Christiansen), a feature length documentary exploring the universal power of music, which is having its world premiere at Hot Docs’ 30th-Anniversary Festival.
