Q&A: The Evolution, The Womp, The Vision
TM: How has your sound changed since 10–15–20 years ago?
IMPRZM:
My sound has changed a lot over 20 years — as has music. I started about 18 or 19 years ago, hell call it 20, playing weddings and Christmas parties with my father. Growing up with a DJ heavily influenced and continues to influence my sound.
Depending on the time and venue, there are definitely tracks or renditions of some of my favorites from those sets — Abba, Madonna, Spice Girls — and also things like MGMT and Basshunter that I was listening to at age 12.
As the years have gone by, I’ve found my soul attached to the house spectrum and crave everything from tropical, afro, Latin‑inspired sunset sets to mainstage bass and tech house vibes. But I remain locked on variety.
TM: What do you think keeps The Womp scene alive?
IMPRZM:
With The Womp, what keeps it alive is the people — as with most things in music. But when you reach deeper, it’s a genuine PLUR community that dominates the festival with an experienced rave vibe.
That vibe bounces between stewardship/mentorship and renewing that childhood wonder. The question I always ask at a festival is:
Are the people here attending a music festival and elevating that experience, or are they listening to music at a drug festival?
With the more seasoned crowd, it’s always the former.
That authenticity promotes finding yourself in ways you never knew you needed. Even if you felt complete in life, it has a funny way of breaking you down and rebuilding you — leaving is exceptionally jarring, even painful.
Shoutout to the entire team from management to the gate — it’s a near unattainable atmosphere they create. And of course, the fans. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this amazing project as an artist this year.
TM: Artist collaboration — if you could collab with anyone right now, who would it be and what kind of track would you make together?
IMPRZM:
This is a tough one. I’ve been reaching out to lots of locals to get some music done together — to have local influence on an upcoming IMPRZM album. But schedules, mentality, and artistic vision are tough to align.
Locally — Zenzz.
He’s a homie from childhood who’s spent tons of time B2B with me on decks and helped get me to where I am.
Track‑wise, we’d likely meet somewhere between melodic tech/bass house and UKG/bass. Our tastes are adjacent, so I’m excited and open to the end product(s).
Dream collab — Felix Cartal.
His energy and tracks have moved me in ways lots of music hasn’t. My first year having Spotify, I was actually one of his top fans. I think he saved me in ways I hope my music saves people.
From This Is The Life to Feel Less, he’s always had a pull on my greatest emotions — a true master of the experience we call life.
