Sabbaoth’s untimely death machine gun blasted through the extreme metal scene on February 11th, 2021. He was one of those creators whose resolve and vision never faltered and everything he ever worked on reeked of total War, right up until his death. We all know he would have continued to evolve and decimate with his work and this loss is without replacement.

Goatpen*s is hugely influential in black/war/noise and their unique style is unmistakable. Throughout the decades they have upheld a level of decimation with solidity, exemplifying integrity to the extreme. Sabbaoth was a pillar of the scene and his contributions are in more than just his output but in his upright being.

Though I’ve never considered TSALAL one for covers, Evandro’s death was something I felt compelled to pay homage to. This is what sparked the idea for this compilation. To utilize War Vellum as a means to pay tribute to Sabbaoth in a bigger way than one band with one cover. The bands contributing are covering a wide variety of songs throughout Goatpen*s’ long history and it has come together as one unified assault with clarity of purpose. To pay tribute to Sabbaoth. All tracks included have been recorded after his death in homage.

ANNOUNCEMENT INCOMING TOMORROW.

One more batch of 2023..

It has been a rough year for with inflation etc. Though I think it is in bad practice to acknowledge this standing and remove the veil, I am going to be blunt. Sales have been less and less last year into this year and the label went from almost but still not self sustaining to the vast majority of things being paid for by my art and other means. E.I. Sitting on tapes. This does not necessarily mean I am rolling in art sales either, but that I give everything I can to War Vellum. I am talking 15-20 orders at max the last few batches and sparse orders between. I hired a friend to help with stories as long as I could but that didn’t seem to help either. I know things are tight for many. The immense appreciation I have for those who have supported and those who continue to support cannot be understated!! I never expected to make money doing the label, not even close, but the strain it puts on me in the opposite direction of that is a lot right now. I will do my best to keep on going.

A while ago I added a 30% off section of a majority of the older releases in the shop now. Those are close to wholesale prices. TSALAL - Incarnation of Evil is almost at cost of production rate due to the lower profit margin to keep the price down despite the 42 page book it comes with. I know there was talk some years ago about an LP version but that has long been off the table. Despite Dani/Goatowarex asking to put it out before we even recorded- knowing the length and book concept, and continuing to communicate about it up to a certain point, he eventually ghosted us, leaving that and our Black Abyss LP agreements in the dust. Band copies of LP releases are something that really helped to prop the label up in the beginning. Hopefully at some point the vinyl treatment will come to fruition.

I do have things lined up already into 2024.
