Provincial money announced for wildfire evacuees
Wildfire evacuees will be offered one-time financial assistance from the Alberta government for those displaced for at least seven consecutive days.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announced the aid Monday afternoon. Every eligible evacuated adult will receive $1,250 and an additional $500 will be available for each dependent child under the age of 18.

Newly-formed Edmonton ‘Healthy Streets’ teams combine to combat crime in the city’s core
The Healthy Streets Operations Centre (HSOC) community safety teams, which include Edmonton police officers, peace officers and a paramedic, were soft-launched in October last year.
They grew out of Project Connection, launched in May, which came about, in part, as a response to the same-day homicides of Ban Phuc Hoang and Hung Trang in Chinatown along with a need to find a more effective way to address high levels of victimization and crime in the core. #edmonton #crime

Police release video after man was stabbed and bear-sprayed stepping off bus
Edmonton police have released video after a 50-year-old man was stabbed and bear-sprayed while stepping off a bus at 87 Avenue west of 156 Street. The suspect is described by police as having a thin build, wearing a black jacket with a hood, black pants, black shoes and a green bandana with white designs that covered his face, followed him off the bus.
