A little behind the scenes action before the Christmas Tea at Mackie Lake House today. 34 guests served and repeat tmrw. What a beautiful festive day we had, the house and grounds are so perfect. Full heart and feet up resting for a few mins. Pam I’m so grateful to work with you in this joyous endeavour. And what a team they have put together at Mackie Lake House ❤️🙏🏻

Min order 2 packs of one variety. Freeze extremely well, great for a crowd or one by one standing in front of a freezer for you.

Very tasty morning around the patio today. Lucky to have the boys home this weekend. We had some laughs while they refer to me as Gordon Ramsay in Jenn’s Kitchen. The quiche from scratch was really delish and blueberry muffins so remind me of my sister Kate, they were one of her summer specialties. Always requested and I know I called her every summer for the same recipe just to annoy her! 🤣 little sis thing. Recipe in comments is exactly the same and courtesy of Canadian Living magazine. Try it with the bumper crop of blueberries that’s about to burst! 🫐

☕️🍰 Well our hearts are full to bursting, our backs are sore and feet on fire but our incredible team pulled off a very special Harvest Afternoon Tea today. It was also a time to remember Paddy Mackie and the incredible home he lived in, a true gift to the community. We fed and filled teacups of about 60 guests. Couldn’t ask for a better late Summer day and what a joy it was to see the guests visiting and enjoying the fare we created. As always we are proud to serve and our guests enjoy copious teacups full of the finest tea Murchie's Tea & Coffee. The scones received some good reviews also so this baker is over the moon!! Thank you for inviting us into your special moments. Thank you also niece Rebecca, junior niece and Florist Extrordinaire Sophia, Assistant Tea Chefs Connor and Garrett, Val, Ruth, Esther and Catherine. ❤️. A guest, who was a friend of Mr. Mackie’s, said today she knew he would be thrilled to see how his home is being treasured. Can’t ask for a better compliment.

☕️🍰. A little Afternoon Tea story…..it took a village of incredible people but we pulled off a lovely celebration this past Sunday at Mackie Lake House. One could not ask for a better day or setting to celebrate getting back to all the things we love most! One of these things being the ability to gather with friends and loved ones to cherish the little things that make life special. I had really missed the creative side of these events over the past year and a half. Huge thanks to the team at the house and so very grateful to be invited back to provide the dainties for these teas. Also, love the laughs (Ruth!) and teamwork while we scurry around setting things just right. Big love to my sons Garrett and Connor who made sandwiches and baked with me and the lovely Rylee and Sophia for keeping me relatively sane leading up to the day, could not have done any of this without you! And didn’t Connor do a great job as florist making the little centrepieces? Until next time…..Sept 12, hope to see you on the verandah for an early Fall Tea.

Ha ha Making lists, getting inspired, checking out Mackie Lake House from my kayak and cannot wait to bring the tea party game back to the verandah there. 🫐 🍋 Lemon Berry Loaf- a perfect Summer slice with a cup of coffee or tea on the patio. Tried a new recipe and just love the results. Finished with a hot lemon glaze drizzled over just as it comes out of the oven. I think this will show up on some tea plates this summer. ☕️ 🍰

🧁 No herbs were used in the making of these tropical lemony cupcakes that went on a tiki boat tour Sunday. They didn’t even melt too badly in the tropical heat we are experiencing. 😎🏖

👩‍🎓 It was a creative and fun (but very warm 39 deg C) few days baking some treats for a few VSS Grads here in Vernon. This cake went to a special Mom friend Jane for her girl Sarah. Chocolate cake layered with a mocha mousse and topped with almond buttercream - no calories today cause it was far too hot to count or care! :)

We are beyond delighted to be returning to the beautiful Mackie Lake House Verandah to serve a summer Afternoon Tea. Featuring Murchie's Tea & Coffee because it’s the finest. Two seatings avail at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, please call 250.549.1019 for tickets. Mackie Lake House is really special to me as it is so much like the home I grew up in East Hill, built in the same year. And Mr. Mackie taught at my junior high school. He was friends with my piano teacher and even hosted a recital that I played at in the home. I love the history so much, this is an honour. Really hope to see you July 18! ☕️ 🍰
