This was a great record to be a part of. Thanks Dan!

Just a little over a year ago, I spent a couple days in this room at the Ganaraska Recording Company. I walked out with The Booker with the help of Jimmy Bowskill and a year ago this week it was released on Busted Flat Records.

Time continues to march forth and I still feel pretty fortunate to be making a living with a guitar and a corolla. In fact, I can't imagine doing anything else.

Great to work with our buddy Julian Taylor. Good times!

We like SM7’s! An excellent dynamic microphone for many applications. We’re lucky enough to have an original 1970’s Pat Pending version that sounds beautiful! The modern SM7b is a fantastic microphone as well.

A pair of 1950’s Shure 55s Microphones. These ones are from the Anglican church here in Cobourg and have the rare handheld addition with an on off switch. (One has been removed and tucked away). These are beautiful sounding mics and are very different from the modern ones!

These two are similar Microphones in different clothing. On the left is a 1950’s Altec 670b with ribbon and dynamic elements that can be used individually of blended. On the right is a 1950’s STC (pre coles) 4033. Also with dual elements, this one features the famous “ball and biscuit” dynamic element. A nice multipurpose pair!

3…2…1…. BLASTOFF!!! Two of these space age looking beauties are modern ribbon microphones made by Royer. The one in the middle was made by Bang and Olufsen in the 1950’s. I think Royer definitely borrowed some design cues from yesteryear! 2 Royer 121’s and a Bang and Olufsen Fentone BM3.

Our trio of beautiful old RCA ribbon microphones. A 1930’s 44A, 1950’s 77DX and 1950’s 74B.

View of the GRC Live Room from the Control Room window. Nice view of our 1884 Weber Grand Piano from New York. Weber and Steinway were direct competition in this era for the highest quality grand pianos. This is a good’un! With a matching Piano lamp from the same era!

Just a coupla buds hangin’. The Fender bass was the first bass I ever played live. My good friend Paul owned it for many years and it spent its life in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. It just made it’s way north not too long ago and sure sounds fantastic. On the right is our 1959 Gretsch Anniversary Model. And our 1960 General Electric Tube Stereo in behind! We like old stuff. Thanks for making the fender bass play again!

Our late 1960’s Gretsch drums, setup in the live room. My dad found this kit, complete with vintage Zildjian cymbals and hardware at an antique store for $50. A beautiful sounding kit! This is a transition era kit so it has a mix of round and stop sign badges.
