I just wanted to take a second to thank all the DJs I've worked with over the years who have always been helpful and easy to work with. These guys allow me to plug into their very expensive gear each Saturday so I can provide our wedding couples with clean audio for the video, and they communicate with me throughout the night so I always know what's coming up.

Some, I've only worked with a handful of times like Mike Jansen, Kristian Burger, Cam Gavin, Ernest Thomas and Grant Gauthier. And some I've worked with a lot.

Paul at VSM - a guy who never gets stressed, which provides a good counter to myself!

DJ Shanon - One of my favourite moments is any time I hear him intro Jason Aldean with "here's one for the Schroeder girls!"

And Chris at CCDJ. His 'anniversary dance' always provides great footage for the video. He's a friend for decades and the reason I'm in this business. 20 years ago I knew a layoff from my job in radio was forthcoming and he said "You know what the local wedding industry needs? A good videographer." I thought yeah, I can learn how to do that. So thanks Chris!

And thanks to all. I appreciate the help each week.

2024 will be the 20th wedding season for Video Keepsakes!

I want to take a moment today to thank all the PHOTOGRAPHERS I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years.

I won’t remember all the names, but off the top of my head, there are ones who’ve been around for a while like Patricia Holst, Angela Wren, Cindy Lottes, Brian Walters, Stacy Kenopic and Claire from Still Moments.

Photographers I don't get to work with often because they also offer video, like Candace Bell and Caroline Dorothy. Photographers I work with regularly like Art by Agata, Holly Anne Portraiture (now Fig and Oak) and Lisa and Jenn from Special Treasures.

Thanks to any of you who have referred couples my way, like Nicole Stewart in 2023.

Thank you to your second shooters including Melissa and Breanne, and to all the Ottawa photographers who I always worry will have a city attitude and a more aggressive shooting style but are always kind and easy to work with, especially Kristin and Tracy from Mondays with Mac.

And then there are the photographers who have become good friends like Courtney Dawn, John Butler, and Shari-Anne from Rustic Lens.

Thanks for always being great to work with and realizing that we’re all working towards the same goal.

And if there’s anyone I’ve worked with a bunch and somehow forgot, feel free to comment here with "what the hell, how did you forget me?!"

I look forward to working with you all again in the future.

When I’m looking through footage to gather highlights for the short film, I don’t limit it to only the most aesthetically-pleasing clips. I think to myself, which moments would be important to the couple? Which clips would they choose if they were editing it? Because sometimes a key moment wasn’t perfectly captured, but it was a perfect moment, deserving of being in the final video.

To keep your priceless wedding footage safe during the time between your wedding and when I deliver your video, I keep a copy off site. So, I have the original footage and one backup copy on my computer here at the home office, and an additional backup copy elsewhere!
