It’s our BIRTHDAY! 🎂 We can cry if we wanna! 😢 Just kidding, but we definitely didn’t expect to be spending our second anniversary apart. It’s been an incredible journey over the last two years, growing from a two-woman show, to a team of SEVEN incredible and talented 🥂

🎥 Elizabeth got invited to the RAW Artists Canada Showcase in Victoria to highlight her work, and totally rocked it.
🎥 We hired Saskia, our nail tech, who just happens to be the most incredible hand painted nail artist in the Valley 🎨
🎥 Maddy & Shannon both earned their Babe Extension Certifications 👏
🎥 Hairstylist Chantel became one of few Babe Educators on the Island, and will be teaching stylist all over Canada & the US her incredible talent in extensions as soon as life returns to our new normal
🎥 We welcomed the beautiful and talented Anuschka to our team!
🎥 We earned our title as a Top Babe Loyalist Salon, and became the only salon in the Comox Valley specializing in extensions
🎥 Steph (Leaning Lotus Creative) rebranded our salon, with a complete new look, marketing materials to match, and new signage outside

Well, this week has brought about a lot of unexpected changes considering the date of affairs in the world today. After getting laid off from my 'regular' job earlier in the week, and offering free service add-ons to my clients service packages considering unexpected closures across navy fields of work, it can be pretty easy to get overwhelmed by the chaos.

Instead, I have chosen to use the extra time and forced humbling to focus on gratitude. Remember, everything is a blessing depending on persoective.

Even the dolphins agree. 🐬 🌎

For most of my life since I became an avid reader at only 5, I’ve been in love with the artistry behind language.

When writing posts for my clients I often use clever word play, and use of imagery to relay my clients message in a creative way to provoke engagement.

This post I did for Michele Westcoastmamas is a perfect example of my mantra “Bringing love of language and design together.” Can you guess the announcement to come based on my chosen images and word play? 😉

Teamed up with Robyn of The Island Grind who donated these lovely gifts for my giveaway to promote an online event for a local woman who recently passed away. Proud to be part of such a supportive community in Campbell River, British Columbia We truly know how to come together for our people.

Currently working on the graphic I will use to advertise for this cause. We’re planning an online ‘Shop & Share for Jenn’ at West Coast Mamas - WCM, where a % of sales on a particular day will be donated to the family Jenn Andreassen left behind. 💔

We were heartbroken to hear from our friend, Chloe Nickerson, that our customer and well-loved local, Jenn Andreassen, recently lost her battle with 💔 Leaving behind her husband and two young sons. So, naturally, we’re making it our mission to help make even a small difference for her family. We aim to ease even just a tiny bit of the financial burden so her loved ones can take this time and focus their energy on healing.

About once a month depending on the season and upcoming I switch up my clients business page profile image and cover photos accordingly.

As a general rule, it is most affective to use a company’s logo as their profile photo. To build brand recognition, I typically use standard logo colour and create beautiful graphics to use for the cover photo using the colour palette I create for each individual clients company on 🖤

On occasion I’ll break these rules to coordinate profile colours with current promotional designs, sticking with my general fonts and design style that are consistent with that brand. Visual consistency is key in what I do, and I’m in love with the look I created on Custom Hair Lounge’s profile this month! 🔥🔥🔥

Well, without further ado, my biggest accomplishment to date! I’ve spent the last few months not one, but two hair salons. One being our local Custom Hair Lounge. Established in January 2018, CHL is the only salon in Courtenay that specializes in all types of , owned by the queen of extensions herself, Hairstylist Chantel. 💕

It feels surreal that I’ve had a pretty big part in putting this business on the map, marketing it via my own business. Pinch me?

Yesterday my logo design went up, loud and clear for all of the valley to enjoy...and yes, I am way too excited to bother photoshopping the lipstick off my teeth. 🙈🖤

I did a total overhaul for both salons (more about Headlox at a later date), complete with new logos, colour pallets, and slogans, that I feel represent and highlight each salons unique and distinct vibe, flawlessly.

Once I solidified my design concepts, I then began redesigning or creating new marketing materials that convey a consistent and recognizable message to their customers and clients. I designed everything from welcome packages, discount and loyalty cards, gift certificates, and marketing materials, employee business cards, and more.

Huge thank to Chantel Harrison and Barbara Poirier
for allowing me creative freedom and entrusting me with your businesses. This has been hands down the best experience of my career to date. Oh, and huge thank you to HI-lite Signs Comox Valley BC, for your patience and understanding as we worked together to pull this project off. You guys are awesome. 🖤
