Today we’re highlighting Evan Medd: the co-director/dramaturg of Flux in the City (who will also appear onstage!)

Evan (he/they) is a dramaturg, theatre-maker, performer, producer, facilitator, and community engaged artist, making work across Turtle Island. He is a founding member of the Major Matt Mason Collective, a co-visionary with Mudfoot Theatre, and the creator of Dreaming Climate Consciousness.

Evan’s Heart of the City is the Bear & Kilt Freehouse on Stephen Avenue:
“I’ve been going to the Bear & Kilt for many years now and it has, throughout each phase of my adult life, helped to define how I engage with friends, family, and community. For a period of time, every year on my birthday, I’d invite whoever was free out to the Bear, and get such joy out of watching people from different walks of my life meet each other for the first time. Even though it’s fairly basic fare, it holds such a special place in my heart!”

FLUX IN THE CITY reimagines one of the most frustrating, opaque, and downright boring processes known to humankind: the municipal consultation. Instead of dry surveys and jargon-filled meetings, play F***, Marry, Kill with civic landmarks, voice your dreams and frustrations, and maybe even destroy something in this highly participatory extravaganza.

💥FLUX IN THE CITY team member shout out!💥

Today we’re highlighting Nathaniel Hanula-James: the co-creator and co-performer of Flux in the City!

Nathaniel (he/they) collaborates on theatre across the country as a dramaturg, playwright, performer, and administrator. He co-leads the Toronto company Shakespeare in the Ruff, and is a staff writer for Intermission Magazine.

Nathaniel's heart of the city is the Leslieville spit in Toronto:
"The beach along the spit is made of bricks and industrial rubble. It looks like a vast modern art installation in the middle of nature. Even though it's part of Toronto, the spit feels very much like a sanctuary from the city. It's my favourite place to bike to in the summer."
