Ah, yes, the inevitable "pick me" post that gets buried in the feed because it contains a thing in the comments that points to music located in a place that rhymes with "hand cramp." Anyways, some of you might remember that I once belonged to a country & western group with Danny Vescarelli called The Handle, and that band made a pretty good record a while back called "Last Stop, Scroadsville."
I've been pretty keen to follow that up for a few years, as the band represents a lot of my positive feelings towards the at-times-cringey yeehaw culture that Calgarians grow up with.
Anyway, my dreams of re-igniting that group as a live project eventually died, but I still had half an album sketched out, so on a week where I wasn't particularly busy I took a handful of rough demos, and with the gracious assistance of Nick Themusicdude and Joey Jacob, we managed to turn them into a somewhat polished EP, which I've now put up on all the usual digital spaces. You can find a link to my personal space below, or if you choose one of the many fine free listening spots out there in the digital ether, it'll be filed under "The Handle Presents: Mr. Liquor."
I don't really consider this a solo record, as it was conceptualized for recording by a group with a very different ethos, so I'd rather consider it as a Handle-adjacent project, or at least an attempt to close the accounts on a collective vision that occupied a huge part of my psyche for a number of years.
Anyways, that's all for now, ya fu**in idiot.
