We hear about it constantly in the news—especially the housing market.
Young people today are told they’ll never afford a home. And when you look at the numbers, it’s easy to see why…
Did you know the average house in 1980 cost just $47K?
Even when adjusted for inflation, that would only be $176K in today’s dollars.
But try finding a home for that price anywhere in the U.S. or Canada. It’s nearly impossible.
Today, the average home price is $495K—almost three times what it should be if wages had kept up.
That’s the problem. Prices keep rising, but paychecks don’t.
So, if you want to get ahead, you can’t just work harder, or have your wife, kids, dog and cats get jobs—you need to work smarter.
