BCIT Television & Video Production Program

Develops skills necessary for a career in visual media

Western Canada's Premiere Broadcast and Production Training Program. BCIT’s Television and Video Production diploma develops all of the skills necessary for a career in any form of visual media production: film, broadcast television, live event, and video production. Students are immersed in production from the very beginning of the program, where they will develop skills to write, direct, produce

, shoot, edit, light, and mix audio. Through practical, hands-on experiences on sets, in studios, and on location, students learn the technical and aesthetic skills with which they can tell stories visually. Course work in writing, planning, business, and post-production supports both individual and team-based production activities throughout the program.

Don’t just take our word for how amazing our visual production program is, come out and talk to our students! Talk to faculty to arrange to spend a day with our program and experience it firsthand!

Location production today on a co-production with the BCIT Communications Department. We start shooting on location next week in the lower mainland for real client projects! Keep an eye on us for BTS photos.

If you watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, or any live sporting event, on a phone, tablet, or VR headset you see work produced by our alumni. For every famous film director there are dozens of other exciting careers!

On-Gang Productions working on their production of “Bad Credit”!

Our first year students are working with portable camera and mic kits after they recently finished their live multicam component.

First years start their lighting component next week and even more of our equipment catalog becomes available for them to sign out.

VEX Spin Up

What it looks like and sounds like in the control room of the Television and Video Production Program. All of our student directors get a copy of their show with the crew communications and the show audio. Great training tool and some good memories to look back on. Here is a small portion from our training project today. Can you believe it was their very first time in these roles?! Everyone was very focused and professional, making for a great experience for everyone. Our alumni work in all areas of production from film to sports, live events and photography.
