It was 20 years ago today, we were shooting “Miss Me, Miss Me, Miss Me” a national spot for LG by Miriam Hara and 3H Communications in Oakville. The day was going well, using the latest Sony HD Camera with Yuri Yakubiw our DOP and Karl DiPelino our director, all the right people were in place so my job as facilitating producer was simple: keep everyone to a schedule and make sure our valued customers were happy.

We were on the sixth floor of the St. Germain Hotel, then on King Street in Toronto humming along We only had a shot or two go, then… the power went out. It was the day of the Northeast blackout of 2003.

Fortunately for us our EIC Rob Hill noted that Showtime was downstairs shooting their series, “Soul Food” and he had brought enough power cable with him to string down 6th flights of stairs and borrow a cup of AC to finish the shoot.
