Producer Ad: Does your video project need a Producer? When you Google “Producer” you get a lot of definitions to choose from. As a production company with over 30 years of experience we understand the value that a producer can bring to your production experience. A Producer helps identify your vision and keeps the project moving towards that vision until it is completed and released. Every project needs a producer but not every project needs professional producer. A small project doesn’t necessarily require a professional Producer. A small project is not very complex and can be completed in a few days. For example, one day to shoot, a day to assemble, and a day to revise and finalize. In this case, you, the client will act as the producer. Your role will be to provide the script and production details, organize shoot locations, talent, and all releases that may be required. A good production company or agency will help guide you through this process. You need a professional producer when: You have a complicated script that needs to be optimized for budget efficiencies. Your project is going over a long period of time. You require coordinating numerous technical and on camera talent. You also need a professional producer when you have multiple stakeholders and craftspeople that may like the concept but may not share your vision. Sometimes, conflicting visions don’t surface until after you are in production. A Producer negotiates that minefield because they have no vested interest other than the successful completion of the task at hand. Rates for a professional Producer vary depending on the complexity of the project. Generally, their fees are based on production days work, rates scale between $400 - $1,200 per day or a percentage of the budget for projects that expand a several weeks or months. With large scale, you should check credentials and references. Radio Ad: If you make something for a living, it should be easy enough to make it for yourself, right? Most people don’t, but we took the time to do it at Hill’s. Our team at Hill’s created and produced a local radio 30 to create awareness of our business. Written by: Colin and me, produced by Colin Van Hattem.
