Eco-Volunteers Needed for Canada Day

BurlingtonGreen invites community members to help make a difference for the local environment this Canada Day, by joining on Monday, July 1st at Spencer Smith Park for BurlingtonGreen’s biggest event greening opportunity of the year.

At 2023’s Canada Day event, BurlingtonGreen’s Event Greening Ambassador volunteers helped festival-goers divert 2,458.7 kg of recyclable and compostable waste from landfill. And this year’s event is expected to be another big opportunity to reduce waste.

Community members can review the details and sign up using this online sign up form. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfipRmS55PBICrPNdwynYnt8EPxkmzxOvp8NklnAPbnmgyt5w/viewform or visit https://www.burlingtongreen.org/

Have fun helping attendees at this huge event get their waste into the correct containers. You'll have a big impact raising awareness about composting, recycling and reducing GHGs (Greenhouse gasses) by keeping compostables out of landfill. After two years of our experiment in determining the need for a radio station in Burlington, we've decided to conclude our 'concept' of what a community station would look and sound like. The results indicate that the need for more media in our community is overwhelmingly in favour. The next steps towards realizing that venture will require the financial capital and human resources that we do not have. Our best wishes to those who may want to see this through. Thanks for listening.
