May 5th is the National Day of Awareness for Missing & Murdered Indigenous (also known as Red Dress Day)
This is a horrific ongoing national crisis, where Indigenous people in Canada go missing and are murdered at disproportionately high rates than non-Indigenous.
Today, we pause to remember those who have lost their lives to these violent acts. We are inspired by Brenda Wilson's story, who lost her sister, Ramona Wilson, 27 years ago. Although her case remains unsolved, Ramona's loved ones continue to be her voice on this crisis. Don't ever give up.
Join us in praying for the families and communities who continue to grieve the loss of their loved ones.
We LOVE the Nawash First Nation Team! Cheryl Jones has been leading the food bank for many years! Their commitment to serve and love their people is inspiring.
This amazing woman grew up in her Indigenous community in Northern BC. She was surrounded by family until....as a teenager, she was sent to Kamloops Indian Residential School. When the news of unmarked graves came out in May of 2021, she instantly remembered her experience. This is what she has to share - #firstpeoplesvoices
