Large Donation Helps King’s Kitchen Purchase Food
By Veronica Burchell
A cheque for $2,000.00 goes a long way when King’s Kitchen volunteers go shopping. This generous donation from Seaway Valley Pharmacy in Prescott will be spent entirely on food to help supply meals for many people often serving 200 meals a week every Wednesday during the year.
“This will all go for food,” said King’s Kitchen Executive Director Carol Casselman last Wednesday evening, when Sutinder Sandhar, owner of the pharmacy came to the weekly dinner to present the cheque. This was double the amount the same business made last year.
“We believe in what this group is doing,” said Sandhar. “We are here to support them and other organizations in the local community. We believe in giving back.”
The money comes at the very best time – many people must make a choice between buying groceries and paying bills in today’s financial climate. January means higher bills for heat and lights and a free, hot meal in good company, is a help to many.
