It's the season of giving and we are happy to offer this donated Tim's card to our Spencerville volunteer, Jen, on behalf of Jon Marshall of The South Grenville Beacon.

Thanks to both of you for all that you do for your communities and for your support to the SG Food Bank.

Large Donation Helps King’s Kitchen Purchase Food
By Veronica Burchell

A cheque for $2,000.00 goes a long way when King’s Kitchen volunteers go shopping. This generous donation from Seaway Valley Pharmacy in Prescott will be spent entirely on food to help supply meals for many people often serving 200 meals a week every Wednesday during the year.

“This will all go for food,” said King’s Kitchen Executive Director Carol Casselman last Wednesday evening, when Sutinder Sandhar, owner of the pharmacy came to the weekly dinner to present the cheque. This was double the amount the same business made last year.

“We believe in what this group is doing,” said Sandhar. “We are here to support them and other organizations in the local community. We believe in giving back.”

The money comes at the very best time – many people must make a choice between buying groceries and paying bills in today’s financial climate. January means higher bills for heat and lights and a free, hot meal in good company, is a help to many.

Generous Donation: Seaway Valley Pharmacy came to the December 18 King's Kitchen dinner to present a cheque for $2,000.00. Public Notice: Visitor Restrictions

Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) is currently restricting visitors due to an active enteric outbreak impacting the Interim Long-Term Care/Convalescent Care unit. KDH is asking only designated essential caregivers to visit our residents to reduce the risk of spreading the illness. We kindly request that the public please adhere to these temporary visitor restrictions to keep our residents and staff safe; KDH wants to ensure family members can visit our residents over the holidays and our staff get to celebrate with their families. Anyone with questions or concerns can contact Aline Bourgoin, KDH’s Manager of Inpatient Nursing Services, by calling 613-258-6133. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Extension cords should only be used with certified devices as a temporary solution. If you need more power, call a licensed electrician for more outlets, don’t overload a circuit, and never run cords under a rug. Plug into holiday fire safety this year with working smoke alarms!
