Here is ONE EXAMPLE of why Joe Gough isn't the best candidate in the Ward 4 byelection.

Joe's uninformed YEA vote supporting Kal Johnson & Mayor Clarke's senseless shorewall bylaw 2020.16 has cost Lagoon City Levy payers & Ramara tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Because of the LCPWC's insistence on heavy concrete caps and faces Lagoon City's shorewalls are STILL sinking & tipping into our lagoons.

Sinking shorewall: https://photos.app.goo.gl/TqcLK1Awv9854W9v9

Because of the LCPWC's intransigence and refusal to consider modern materials & engineering, November 2017 & 2019 building permit applications for new shorewalls on Old Indian Trail sit unapproved in the Township of Ramara 's building office.

Because of the LCPWC's intransigence no new shorewalls are being built in Lagoon City. In this ridiculous & costly bylaw, residents can only back fill and top dress shorewalls.

After the Ontario Superior Court hands down its decision on the Phase One Groups Application to quash Ramara's senseless shorewall bylaw, we may have the opportunity to re examine how we build shorewall to prevent their tipping and sinking..

Vote for good governance and Councillors who do their homework.

Ramara needs more than smiling gladhanding politicians.

Ward 4 voters have a choice. Their votes may determine Township of Ramara 's future direction.

The rest of us in Ramara Township hope that Ward 4 voters vote for straight forward municipal governance.

Here are a few questions to ask one of the candidates

Thanks to the clerk's office and Ashley Watson for getting the webpage updated on the same day as the most recent candidate filed their papers.

Congratulations to Richard Black for putting his name forward as a candidate. This is a big committment on Richard's part.

Honestly, personally I wanted to see a two candidate elction. However, Richard wants to see changes in Ramara so much that he's putting his wallet and his time where his mouth is.

Richard, Thank you for your dedication to making things better in Ramara. That said, I will be supporting Marg Sharpe

Do we need more than the two candidates that we already have, for the 2024 Ward 4 by-election?

If you believe we need additional candidates, please share why you think Ward 4 voters and Ramara residents overall might benefit from additional candidates?

This is MORE IMPORTANT than a simple by-election!

In 2022 we elected a new Deputy Mayor and two new Councillors. Prior to that election, Ramara Council had identifiable voting blocks. The "closed mindedness" & dominance of the voting block was diminished in the 2022 election. Mayor Clarke had earlier proclaimed that his Council was almost always "unanimous." Happily, our new Council is not unanimous. Ramara needs a council where each member votes independently. Ramara desperately needs better decisions & policies. This happens when Council engages in thoughtful, open discussion.

All of us should be interested in & pay attention to the candidates in the Ward 4 by-election. The candidate that is elected will vote on everything that comes before Council. The Ward 4 by-election will effect everyone who lives in Ramara.

Let's not let Township of Ramara fall backwards into Groupthink.
