Earlier this afternoon, Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Chief Jennifer Bone gave a speech regarding the fact that the band had been barred by the owner of Turtle Crossing from further surveying the property in the search for other unmarked graves of residential school children. Kola-area farmers began harvesting a plot of wheat Friday that will be used to help famine-stricken and developing countries overseas. Participants put 16 combines into action to harvest 250 acres of wheat in a single afternoon as part of the Crossborders Community Growing Project. On Tuesday night during the height of August's annual Perseid meteor shower, I spent a few hours shooting some long exposure shots on a gravel road south of Brandon. While I was out, quite literally in the field, a thunderstorm began rolling in on the horizon while meteors flashed overhead.
