Knowledge is the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject. Our text reveals the key to finding the knowledge of and understanding the fear of God.
Beloved, the knowledge and understanding of God are information and facts gained through encounters with Him that leads to doing what He wants. When you make God's wisdom a treasure, train your heart to listen, engage your mind to understand what the Word is saying, pay very close attention to it, cry out for comprehension, intercede for insight, sift through the clamour of everything around you and seek her like a precious prize, God shares His wisdom with you. When He does, you will grasp what it means to truly respect, understand and know Him. The degree you desire to know God shows in the degree to which you silence the clamour of everything around you, sacrifice your time to search the Scripture, as well as attune your ears and engage your mind to please Him. The degree you please Him equals the degree He shields and preserves you.
