It's easy to get caught up in the daily grind. Life gets busy, with schedules filling up before you know it.
That is why it's so important to slow down and say thank you!
At SEMBA, it's important to us to respect the hard work that goes into building and supporting our community. That's why we've created the Awards show, coming late October this year.
We want to encourage the people in our community who go above and beyond in sharing their love and themselves with the rest of Simcoe County. They deserve our thanks for going the extra mile to make Simcoe County a rich and diverse place to live.

Barrie ON – The board of the newest Simcoe County awards initiative, SEMBA is pleased to announce its launch. SEMBA – Simcoe Excellence Multicultural Business Awards was presented to a small group of community partners on Saturday, October 23, 2021.

The SEMBA Awards recognizes the outstanding Black and Multicultural Businesses through a yearly award and ceremony aimed at showcasing the contributions of Black and Multicultural businesses in Simcoe County. “Our government wants business events to succeed. Business events like yours are an essential part of strong communities” agreed Andrea Khanjin, MPP for Barrie-Innisfil.

Award recipients will be chosen from recommendations within the community. An independent selection committee made up of community representatives will select the winners in accordance with the eligibility criteria. Awards will be presented in numerous categories including, education, community service, voluntarism, professional services and more. The first annual SEMBA awards will be presented at a special ceremony in the Fall of 2022.
