WAY TO GO WILMOT!

This year in Wilmot Township, local Tim Hortons restaurant owner Jeff Walker and guests helped raise $17,145.00 support the Wilmot Family Resource Centre. The Centre provides wrap-around care to individuals and families in both Wilmot and Wellesley Townships, offering services such as food support, free clothing, indigenous supports, parent and family support, and family violence prevention as well as early years and youth programming. The funds raised will be used to support these irreplaceable programs and service in the face of increasing need.

“We’re so grateful for the support of our community” said Trisha Robinson, Executive Director for the Wilmot Family Resource Centre. “Things are getting more expensive, and more and more people are needing support to meet their basic needs – whether that’s food, clothing, gas cards, mental health support or counselling, or helping them get connected to other supports such as housing – we’re able to help people be a part of the community with dignity”.

The Nith Valley Ecoboosters will be hosting a free in-person educational event on April 30th entitled: "STOVE TALK: Introduction to Induction”. The event will take place in Room A at the Wilmot Recreational Complex, 1291 Nafziger Road in Baden, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Lots of free parking is available at the Complex!

"Please join us and learn about induction cooking, how induction burners work, and see demonstrations of how to cook some new and also familiar foods with this technology. Induction cooking is gaining popularity because it helps to protect indoor air quality, uses less energy, generates fewer carbon emissions, cooks food faster, has better temperature control, is safer to use than conventional electric and gas alternatives.

We will have 5 “local chefs” at the event and they will be preparing a variety of foods and hot drinks for everyone to sample. And you will have a chance to win one of the door prizes that we are giving away!"

Interested in knowing more about the Muslim religion? "Explore Islam" will be held at the Baden Public Library on Sunday, March 18th. It is a traveling exhibition that will be stopping by 1000 towns across Canada.

Clocks spring forward Sunday!

⏰ begins Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 a.m. Time *springs* forward one hour and with that comes a friendly reminder from to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

Changing the batteries in your alarms when you change your clocks is a great habit to. Only working smoke alarms save lives.

Our local group, Citizens for Safe Ground Water, is hosting a Wine and Cheese event at Puddicombe House. Money raised will help with the ongoing legal battle to keep the proposed Hallman Pit out of Shingletown. Come socialize while helping the community. :)
