Lilac Place: Resources for Women We are a space dedicated to supporting women as well as nonbinary and gender-expansive people who feel affirmed in our space.

Our goal is to foster a community where all who experience gender-based oppression can find support, resources, and connection.

While Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States, it has also become a day recognized by Black communities and allies around the world to honour Black liberation, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice.

At Lilac Place, we wish a Happy Juneteenth to Black communities across the Maritimes and beyond, with special appreciation for the rich history and enduring contributions of African Nova Scotian communities here in Cumberland County. As part of a province that is home to some of Canada’s oldest and most enduring Black communities, we celebrate the strength, leadership, and legacy that continue to shape our region today.
