Cops for cancer 👍

We were honored to host the incredible and dedicated riders of this year’s Cops for Cancer Tour de Valley, comprised of emergency service personnel from the Fraser Valley Region of BC. Their 800km journey raises awareness and funds for childhood cancer research and support services at the Canadian Cancer Society.

We wish them a safe and memorable journey as they continue over the coming days.

Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth said in a statement the government was “concerned” by the ruling against laws meant to prevent “the use of drugs in places that are frequented by children and families.”

“(This) decision temporarily prevents the province from regulating where hard drugs are used, something every other province does, every day,” he said.

The Restricting Public Consumption of Illegal Substances Act was passed by the legislature in November, allowing fines and imprisonment for people who refuse to comply with police orders not to consume drugs in certain public places.

Sad 😔

Yesterday, our Traffic Enforcement Unit was out patrolling and clocked this vehicle going 142 km/h in a school zone. The N-driver, who was also impaired, was issued a 24-hour Driving Prohibition, a 7-day vehicle impound and tickets totaling $701.00.

Explaining all this is going to be tough at their next road test...

COP28 in Dubai is coming up and Steven Guilbeault is flying there, in his private jet, along with many other politicians, in their private jets. To tell the rest of the world they should be charged more for driving their cars.

Can someone better at being a politician explain this one to me?

Giving Tuesday is on November 28, and this year all donations that BBBSFV receives on this day, will go directly towards our Holiday Hamper program.

The Holiday Hamper program allows us to help many of our families struggling. It supplies them with many items to support them through this holiday season, such as gift cards for groceries, canned food, fresh produce, and gifts for children and adults.

Please consider donating this Giving Tuesday, and together we can give families in the Fraser Valley the support they need to have a wonderful holiday season!

In addition, you can apply on www.mentoringworks.ca to become a mentor for a youth in your community.
