***BMP CITY COUNCIL LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION INTO SALE OF INOVABEL LANDS: SOME PERSONS GOT LANDS FOR $100!*** (Pt.1)
The Belmopan City Council has launched a full investigation into the Inovabel Housing Project that was initiated under the Former Mayor of Belmopan, Sheran Palacio. The housing project was launched in March of this year and it was proposed that, after paying a down payment of $2,000.00, residents would be able to set up a payment plan to clear their balance, as the lots were valued at $20,000.00 each. Well after investigating the matter, Mayor Pablo Cawich revealed that 100 lots were sold using unauthorized discounts. After paying the down payment fee, some persons immediately received their land titles. According to the Mayor, some individuals even got lands for as cheap as $100.00 per lot.
*** BMP CITY COUNCIL REPORTING $2MILLION LOSS OF REVENUE OVER INOVABEL LANDS*** (PT.2)
There are a little under 20,000 lots at the Inovabel Housing Project. While most of those were sold at the approved $20,000 price point, a little under 100 of those lots were sold using hefty discounts; with persons paying anywhere between $100 to $2,000.00 for a land title. According to current Belmopan Mayor Pablo Cawich, due to those unsanctioned discounts, the council suffered a loss of around two million dollars.
***PERSONS WHO RECEIVED INOVABEL LANDS FOR CHEAP ARE ASKED TO CLEAR THEIR BALANCE*** (Pt.3)
Following the Belmopan City Counci’s revelation of the cheap sale that took place at the Council regarding the Inovabel Lands, the Council sent a letter to those individuals who have not paid off the true value of the lands. The letter states that those individuals are encouraged to clear their balance of around $18,000.00. According to the Mayor, some persons received title for their lots before completing payment, and the council cannot legally revoke those titles. The Mayor says that he hopes residents would realize that the land they received was undervalued and that they would pay the balance.
***BMP CITY COUNCIL TERMINATES TWO WORKERS WHO RECEIVED DISCOUNTED INOVABEL LANDS*** (Pt. 4)
The Belmopan City Council has terminated two employees after investigations revealed that they received Inovabel Lands at unauthorized discounted prices. According to Mayor Pablo Cawich, he gave the two persons an opportunity to explain the role they played, but after they declined to assist in the council’s investigation, they were terminated.
