ifty year old Medardo Vanegas is the latest victim of a traffic accident that took place on the Southern Highway earlier this week. According to eyewitnesses, Vanegas was riding his bicycle when he was knocked down by a pickup truck.

Are Belizeโs roads and highways good enough for an International Cycling Competition? That was the question that was posed to Leticia Westby, the General Secretary of the Cycling Federation of Belize. According to Westby, while the route for the Competition has yet to be finalized, she says that they will only consider using roads that are properly maintained.

Bmp City Council signs MOU with UNICOMER Belize to limit Motorcycle related incidents in the Capital!
Today the Belmopan City Council signed an MOU with UNICOMER Belize. H.W. Mayor Pablo Cawich and the Belmopan City Council came together with UNICOMER Belize to sign an MOU with the goal of addressing traffic challenges and promoting road safety. Through this partnership, the Council hopes to educate motorists and riders on safe road practice, traffic laws, and responsible behavior on the road. We spoke to Mayor Pablo Cawich who told us more about the partnership.
RTA in San Roman Village Kills 84-Year-Old Man
Recently, Cecilio Caal, an 84-year-old resident of San Roman Village in Stann Creek, was killed when a bus struck him on the Thomas Vincent Highway. According to reports, Caal was on his way home from buying tortillas when a 2007 Costa Bus struck him, crushing his bike and throwing him some 30 feet away. Caal was then picked up by authorities who took him to the Southern Regional Hospital in Dangriga. During preparations to take him to Belmopan City for a CAT scan, Caal passed away. Dangriga Correspondent, Harry Arzu, spoke to Max, the son-in-law of Caal, who told us more.

While Jovani Jones and Jerwin Segura have both been charged for the murders of Martinez and Gillett, the question still remains, why were they killed? Today the Commissioner of Police gave us some insight into what the policeโs investigations have revealed so far. According to the COMPOL, Martinez and Gillett gave Jones, a well-known car dealer, thirty -five thousand dollars to import a vehicle for them. After months of not receiving their car, they hired a lawyer to try and get their money back from Jones.
