BPM Filed Court Action Against GOB 11 Weeks Ago, But Haven't Had Their Day Yet
Lately in the news you’ve been hearing about Anand Ramlogan and Jerry Enriquez and their case against GOB. But they’re not the only ones trying to force a redistricting exercise before the general election.
11 weeks ago, the Belize Peace Movement once again took GOB to high court on the same matter. In that matter, the government had similarly retained senior counsels Eamon Courtenay and Godfrey Smith.
But up to now, the case still hasn’t been called back to court, and the general election has been set for March 12th.
In a court filing yesterday, claimant Roody Wade made an urgent application for a hearing. Like Ramlogan and Enrqiuez, they’re asking the court for a declaration that the register of voters is, quote, “malapportioned, unconstitutional, and therefore
unsuitable for use in conducting the upcoming general elections.” End quote.
Today in Santa Elena, Roody Wade pleaded for a response from the court as soon as possible.
