Educational Scientific Solutions invited Dr. Adriani Coleman to present on Artificial Intelligence at their STEAM Summer Camp to young people ages 8-13. Here are four things that she observed from the session:

1. Children/Young people know a lot about AI's constraints and limitations. They gave many of their own personal examples.
2. Children/Young people are very concerned about their privacy and safety online.
3. Children/Young people understand the ethical implications of using AI irresponsibly. With just a little explanation, they understood the ethics of using AI.
4. Children/Young people can think of ways to use AI responsibly. They answered this question after being presented with a case study.

Aren't our Belizean children so smart? Never underestimate the power of the younger generation to understand, think and develop new thoughts.

🎯On Friday, June 14, 2024, Dr. Adriani Coleman closed off the NIME Belize Chapter Bootcamp season with a session on Artificial Intelligence for MSMEs.

The session started with a timeline of AI ie past, present and future. The session explored Industry 1 to 5. Then an overview of prompt engineering. The benefits and constraints of AI were introduced. Afterwards, tools for AI integration for MSMEs were shared with participants. Strategies for implementation in business were shared. Finally, the session ended with ethical implications of AI in business.

Needless to say, it was an intense session. The participants were engaged and asking a lot of very interesting questions.

From last year to this year, the following was observed:
1. 50% more participants knew something about AI or came with some previous knowledge.
2. 50% more participants used ChatGPT even if it was only once.
3. Less participants reported being scared of using AI.
4. Participants are not automating with AI at this point.

This is a major shift in the way AI is being accepted and used in our daily lives and businesses. MSMEs seem to be embracing the efficiency of using AI to assist them and give them time for other matters.

Today was the closing of the WIPO Project: IP for Women Entrepreneurs Project in the Caribbean. Dr. Adriani Coleman along with eight other NIME members completed the six month long training. Congratulations to all the women from the Caribbean who also completed the training!

The training encompassed the basics of IP, identifying your IPs, the importance of IP, creating value through IP. Overall, an important component of being a business owner is to protect your valuable assets, IP included.

This is a particularly challenging area for MSMEs, and trainings such as these, greatly assist and advance the entrepreneurial journey. Many thanks to and BELIPO for the wonderful opportunity. Thank you to International Network of Women in Business: NIME for always sharing opportunities that advance the women in the group.

Insight from Dr. Adriani Coleman as she assisted a school for the past few days with student-teacher evaluations for 2023-2024.

"For four academic years, I have been assisting with student-teacher evaluations in Belize. These are the top things that I have noticed:

1. Most students love their school (regardless of what you might hear).
2. Most students take this exercise seriously.
3. Students love that their voices are heard.
4. Student feedback data is powerful for an institution.

It is very insightful to hear the voices of our stakeholders. A lot of thought is put into creating the evaluation form and ensuring its authenticity. I love to hear and see the honesty that students share during this exercise.

Dr. Adriani Coleman extends her heartfelt gratitude to the administration, teachers and sophomore students of Orange Walk Technical High School. Many thanks to Mrs. Licia Alamilla Castillo for inviting Dr. Coleman to present!

Yesterday, Dr. Coleman did a STEAM presentation to sophomore students as they choose their major and consider their future career paths.

Students heard a very short presentation on STEAM, the skills needed, and the different ways of thinking. Students were then challenged to build the tallest standing tower with limited paper and tape using the engineering method of thinking. They had to design, test, and iterate all within a very short time frame-8 minutes. It was fun to watch!

Students also had to apply STEM skills in three main areas: critical thinking, creativity and collaboration. They did not disappoint! It is amazing how young people are so willing and resilient to rise to challenges and face them.

After the challenge, the towers were measured and the winning team talked about what worked, what didn't work, and how they can use this method of thinking for other things.

The FINTECH Forum hosted by BELTRAIDE was highly insightful and reflected the changing landscape of e-commerce, digital wallets, and a shift in digital cash products in Belize. It was interesting to learn all that the financial institutions were offering, each looking at different aspects of business.

Two panel discussions were held as well bringing more insight on the challenges, risks and opportunities for Belizeans, MSMEs and individuals where digital currency, digitization, and transformation are necessary.

Dr. Coleman represented as a International Network of Women in Business: NIME board member as well as DLPS' lead Digital Learning Specialist. She met and networked with many like-minded entrepreneurs at the networking session.

Forums like this open a world of possibilities especially to the MSMEs in the market. The forum was streamed live on Beltraide's page.

Dr. Adriani Coleman assisted as an official at the Miss Belize Universe pageant 2024! It was an amazing experience, and one that she gladly assisted. The workshop was a collaboration by International Network of Women in Business: NIME , Global Service Partnerships, and Vision & Strategy Coach! Our lead digital learning and development specialist, Dr. Adriani Coleman, had the honor to attend. She even met her childhood role model, Michelle Kwan! The valuable lessons that she continues to learn is assisting her in developing herself and her business. Today our lead digital learning and development specialist, Dr. Adriani Coleman, was a panelist and a mentor at the International Girls in ICT Day 2024 activity hosted by the Ministry of Public Utilities , Energy, Logistics & E-Governance. The day was filled with interesting activities for the young ladies present at the event. It kicked off with an unveiling of the "Tech Titans" comic book written by Ramy Molina, Civil Engineer. Following that excitement, the young ladies listened to two panels answer questions about their journeys in the ICT field. Lastly, the young ladies met and got mentored by the panelists in a speed mentoring activity.

Today was an amazing day! Huge congrats to International Network of Women in Business: NIME and Loving Is Key for hosting the NIME Holistic Wellness Workshop 2024! The workshop was held at the Log Cab-Inns in San Ignacio. This workshop was so different. It was a workshop of the mind and heart. It included meditation, a Mayan cleansing ritual, breathing exercises, journaling, painting and reflection. Even the food was curated to reflect the cleansing of the mind and heart. It was just what I needed.
