The day after our pilot programme launch at Gaborone Senior Secondary School we had a Predeparture Event for students leaving for the UK and Grenada.
This event was in partnership with STBK Business Services. GSS students were invited as part of our Tlhotlheletso Student Mentorship Programme.

Our Tlhotlheletso Student Mentorship Pilot Programme began with an official launch on the 11th of August. This included the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding signed with Gaborone Senior Secondary School and Peo Ya Rona Society

We have had two events after the launch and are elated to see what the next 3 months will look like.

The Runway Society had the privilege of participating in the education fair Botswana that happened this past month.
The event was hosted at wagga gardens and was a great opportunity to interact with different schools in Botswana as well as some schools from surrounding countries. It was an opportunity to really see how best we can work together towards ensuring the next generation of international students is well equipped to tackle university as well as after graduation trials and tribulations.
We would like to give a big thank you to Mma Naomi Sebape ( study abroad plug) who we shared a stall with at the fair. She was also marketing her services. She is a UK education consultant at STBK business services.
It was a great event all around and a great networking opportunity. We look forward to the next one and many other similar events lined up for this year!

Allow us to introduce our latest addition to our advisory board, Mr Metlha Ishmael Mokwena.

Metlha is a passionate finance executive and strategic leader in areas of business financing. His career spans over thirteen years through which he has grown from a junior finance officer to now Finance Director of CENE Limited (Cene Media) where his role includes ensuring that the company grows to be one of the leading ICT giants in Botswana through a healthy balance sheet and prudent planning and utilisation of financial resources. Metlha is a qualified chartered accountant and a member of CIMA and BICA professional bodies. His career has encompassed financial leadership, business turnaround strategy and oversight, active participation in the development and implementation of business models, as well as building, leading and training other professional. As a finance executive, he has been instrumental in introducing highly effective systems and processes, setting up finance departments, financial reporting processes, financial analysis, stakeholder engagement, fund raising, and leading pitches to potential investors.

We are excited to have him join as a member of the advisory board and are confident that his skills and competences will synergise well with those of our other decorated members to set the organisation up for impact and success.

Gofaone Modise is the founder of Inbound Media_ a company that provides inbound marketing services, specializing in social media management, consultancy and training . With research interests geared towards the application of innovation processes in the development of corporate innovation strategies, for entrepreneurial development and global competitiveness — through the transformation of corporate business capacities and the support of SMEs.

She serves as a Communications and Innovation Facilitator. She is the director of ‘Conversations with Gofaone’ podcasts: an interactive platform that aims to empower the global youth having had interviews the likes of Hon. Bogolo Kenewendo, Diamantaire Molefi Letsiki, musician Jonathan Christian Hamilton who is popularly known as Ziyon and more. The podcast has featured as Apple Top 200 podcasts and is Spotify’s top 15% most listened podcast globally.

She’s served as a social media marketing trainer at CEDA (Botswana), DeBeers (South Africa) and Vaal University of Technology (South Africa)

We are very excited to have Nomsa Makgabenyana join our advisory board here at The Runway Society. She is a great compliment to our team of experienced advisors and adds a unique perspective, given her accomplished career. As a tech startup leader, her appointment is strategic and an integral part of the society's growth.

Nomsa Makgabenyana is the Founder and CEO of Seriti Insights also t/a Seipone.ai, which has become synonymous with award-winning A.I in Botswana. Nomsa and the startup she heads up was one of five startups (out of 105 total startups from Botswana) selected through ‘Ninja-Japan Challenge’ to develop and scale their one-of-a-kind Natural Language Processing enabled media listening tool in response to the pandemic. After rigorous development & testing of the prototype, seipone.ai emerged. is a marketing technology (‘mar-tech’) that speaks directly to the fact that Africans don't always express themselves in perfect english, we mix languages, and create "sayings" that are constantly changing: and we do this when we share our experiences with brands, products and services, especially on social media platforms. seipone.ai was developed to give marketers, brand builders, and product owners, true insights and sentiments of the African consumer, regardless of the language they express themselves.

As a Tech-entrepreneur Nomsa has been nominated for ‘Founder of the Year’, and ‘Female Role Model’ of the year, by the Southern Africa Startup Awards. While Seriti Insights was a finalist in Best Fin-Tech also under the Southern Africa Startup Awards. Nomsa and her team received the “Excellent Company” Award from JICA for their SaaS; Seipone.ai. Nomsa is also an MPhil: Inclusive Innovation (University of Cape Town- Graduate School of Business) Candidate (2025).

A warm welcome goes out to our new advisory board member, Dr Naike Moshi.

Dr Naike Moshi is a strategic, innovative leader with a proven track record of building and creating successful business products and services. With a strong academic background and experience, creative problem-solving skills, and an innovative mind, Naike has been instrumental in creating an impact within her area of expertise. She is the Country director of CVPeople Tanzania and founder & CEO of Women In Management Africa (WIMA). Her entrepreneurial spirit has also enabled her to gain notable success as a mentor, where she has coached and mentored Entrepreneurs for the YALI Regional Leadership, Unreasonable East Africa and African Entrepreneurship Awards recipients. In addition to her entrepreneurial and educational success, Naike has been an instrumental leader in the community by developing long-lasting relationships with numerous organizations (both for-profit and not-for-profit) through memberships, affiliations, and mentorships and has received multiple awards for her personal and professional contributions. She found WIMA which is aimed at improving gender balance and diversity on boards and in leadership roles in line with the international benchmark for sustainable business practices, and Goals 5 & 10 of the United Nations Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDG 2030).

We look forward to working with Dr Moshi and benefiting from the many years of experience and expertise she has under her belt.
