Violations of Postal Ballots Rules and Regulations Emerge Ahead of National Assembly Elections
In the run-up to the primary round of the National Assembly elections, voters utilizing the postal ballot facility are casting their votes ahead of the poll day. However, concerns have arisen as some individuals have been found to be flouting the Postal Ballots Rules and Regulations of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2018.
According to the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB), certain voters have been sharing their postal ballot papers with friends and even broadcasting them on social media platforms, in clear violation of the established rules. The ECB has called upon the public to ensure the secrecy of postal ballots, which is a vital component of the election process.
Under the Postal Ballots Rules and Regulations, a competent witness is designated to oversee the voter's marking of the ballot paper in complete secrecy. The ECB emphasizes the importance of upholding this requirement to safeguard the integrity and fairness of the electoral process.
Simultaneously, the Election Commission is also appealing to employers to grant reasonable days of leave to employees who are eligible to vote via postal ballot. This call aims to enable more individuals to exercise their democratic right without undue burden or constraint.

Fatal Car Accident Shakes Changzamtog, Raising Concerns about Road Safety
Yesterday's horrifying and fatal motor vehicle accident at Changzamtog has sent shockwaves through the community. The incident, which quickly went viral, left viewers disturbed and many pondering the fate of the driver and passengers in the taxi that narrowly escaped being crushed by an over-speeding car.
The incident has brought to light the growing concerns about the safety of our roads, as the number of vehicles and accident cases continue to rise. However, what is even more alarming, as seen in yesterday's freak accident, is that being a cautious driver may not be enough to guarantee safety. In this particular case, an unlicensed driver, under the influence of alcohol, sent his car flying into the opposite lane, colliding with the unfortunate taxi.
The impact of the collision left the two passengers in the taxi with severe injuries, including a broken jaw and a broken rib bone. It is important to note that the taxi was being operated by a professional driver, who was driving within the speed limit and staying in the correct lane. This incident serves as a harsh reminder that even when following all the rules and regulations, accidents can still occur due to the negligence of others on the road.
The incident has sparked a renewed discussion on the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and more comprehensive measures to ensure road safety. It also highlights the need for public awareness campaigns to educate drivers about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol.
