Israeli Prime Minister Acknowledges Losses in Gaza War, Vows to Continue Fighting

December 25 .'

In a statement today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly acknowledged the significant losses suffered by Israel in the ongoing Gaza war. He expressed his condolences for the deaths of over a dozen soldiers, including Major Aryeh Rein, a tank commander. Despite the high casualties, Netanyahu emphasized that there is no alternative but to continue fighting until their objectives are achieved.

The Prime Minister's unwavering stance comes as US President Joe Biden, a close ally of Netanyahu, emphasized the importance of safeguarding civilian lives during a phone call on Saturday. However, President Biden did not request a ceasefire, as both leaders believe it would ultimately benefit Hamas.

The White House issued a statement clarifying that while President Biden supports the protection of innocent lives, he did not directly call for a cessation of hostilities. Instead, the focus of their conversation was on strategic coordination and addressing the root causes of the conflict.

Meanwhile, on Friday, the United Nations Security Council unanimously approved a resolution calling for significant aid to be sent to Gaza. However, the resolution did not explicitly call for a ceasefire between the conflicting parties.

As the conflict continues to escalate, the international community remains concerned about the rising civilian casualties and the long-term impact on the region. The situation in Gaza remains tense, with no immediate prospects for a peaceful resolution in sight.

Patriotic Rap Song 'Druk Gyalkhab' Released on Bhutan's National Day by Kezang Dorji: A Celebration of Gratitude and Heritage

In a remarkable tribute to Bhutan's rich cultural heritage and national pride, Bhutanese artist Kezang Dorji unveiled a patriotic song titled "Druk Gyalkhab" on the auspicious occasion of Bhutan's National Day. Nyingyel Phuntsho/ Baby Rapper and Yeshey Choden also performed their part. The song serves as a powerful testament to the gratitude and reverence the Bhutanese people feel towards their nation.

The song beautifully encapsulates the contributions of revered figures Guru Rinpoche and Zhabdrung, who played pivotal roles in fostering peace and harmony within the country. By immortalizing their legacies in this anthem, Dor aims to remind the Bhutanese people of their deep-rooted cultural and spiritual heritage.

Moreover, the anthem pays homage to the benevolent leadership of the King, often referred to as a god-like figure, for his unwavering commitment to the happiness and well-being of the people. The song acknowledges the King's tireless efforts in ensuring the prosperity and contentment of the citizens.

A notable inclusion in the anthem is a reference to a guiding deity named Yeshey Gyenpo, who is believed to provide divine protection and guidance to the country. This portrayal underscores the Bhutanese people's belief in their fortunate position, bestowed with the guidance and blessings of a higher power.

From Dreams to Dollars: A Bhutanese Journey in Australia

With a fervent desire to explore new opportunities, I set my sights on Australia despite having no funds. As an electrical engineer in Bhutan, I knew that obtaining an Australian visa was the key to unlocking my dreams. To make this happen, I entered into matrimony with someone I barely knew and established a de facto relationship.Upon arriving in Australia, I was confronted with strict regulations and limited free time as earning a living became paramount. Meanwhile, my partner struggled to find work and ultimately found employment as a hospital cleaner. Despite the challenges that were thrown our way, my unwavering determination allowed me to persevere. However, being immersed in vastly different customs and cultures made me yearn for home more than ever before. The sentimental song "Kupar,"which commemorates His Majesty the King during Bhutan's National Day celebrations resonated deeply within me and stirred up feelings of nostalgia for my hometown. Although returning home wasn't feasible due to financial constraints and academic pursuits at hand.In retrospect, enduring these hardships taught me valuable lessons on resilience and adaptability while simultaneously allowing me to appreciate newfound opportunities presented by life Down Under even amidst missing Bhutan dearly.

The Office of the Media Arbitrator Warns BBS and Kuensel for Biased Election News Coverage

The Office of the Media Arbitrator (OMA) has issued a warning to Bhutan Broadcasting Service Corporation Limited (BBSCL) and Kuensel for their alleged biased news coverage during the upcoming elections. In letters addressed to both media outlets, the OMA expressed concerns over the lack of balanced reporting and potential influence on the electoral process.

The letter sent to BBSCL on December 21st highlighted a news article published by the broadcasting service on December 20th. According to the OMA, the article focused solely on penalties imposed on one political party, omitting other perspectives. This unbalanced approach could potentially sway the election outcome, either directly or indirectly, the OMA cautioned.

Similarly, a letter was also sent to Kuensel, one of Bhutan's leading newspapers, regarding their coverage of a story titled "OMA fines PDP coordinator for violating social media news." The OMA expressed concerns about potential bias in the coverage and urged the newspaper to ensure fair and impartial reporting during the election period.

The OMA's warning to both BBSCL and Kuensel serves as a reminder to media organizations to uphold their responsibility in providing unbiased and accurate information to the public. The upcoming elections are a crucial time for the nation, and it is important that media outlets maintain a fair and balanced approach in their coverage to ensure the democratic process is not compromised.

Man Arrested in Punakha for Marrying a Minor in 2019; Now Faces Charges Under Bhutanese Penal Code

In an unusual turn of events, a 27-year-old man was apprehended on 6th December in Punakha for marrying a girl who was discovered to be a minor at the time of their marriage back in 2019. Shockingly, the couple now has two children, one aged three and the other just seven months old.

The case took an unexpected twist when the husband disappeared for several months, leaving his wife and children behind. Fearing abandonment, the wife sought assistance from the Pema Secretariat. However, during the investigation, it was discovered that the wife had been underage when they tied the knot, leading to the subsequent arrest of the husband.

If proven guilty, the husband will face charges under Section 184 of the Penal Code (Amendment) Act of Bhutan 2011. This particular section deems the r**e of a child above twelve years as a second-degree felony, carrying a punishment of nine to fifteen years of imprisonment.

This peculiar case raises questions about the effectiveness of law enforcement and the need for better protection of minors. It also highlights the importance of timely reporting of such offenses and the potential consequences that can arise if they go unnoticed for years.

Colorado Supreme Court Disqualifies Trump from Presidential Run Due to Capitol Assault Role

Colorado, USA - In a historic ruling, the Colorado Supreme Court has declared that former US President Donald Trump is ineligible to run for the presidency. This decision comes as a result of his involvement in the 2021 Capitol assault orchestrated by his supporters. Notably, it is the first time in American history that Section 3 of the 14th Amendment has been utilized to disqualify a presidential candidate.

While the ruling only applies to Colorado, there is a growing consideration of similar legal actions by other states. The court's decision was based on Trump's engagement in insurrection, which is expressly prohibited under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, effectively barring individuals from holding public office.

The majority decision of the court emphasized that listing Trump as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot would be a violation of the Election Code. Consequently, it is deemed a wrongful act for the Colorado Secretary of State to include Trump in the list of candidates.

Trump's campaign has expressed intentions to appeal the court's decision, setting the stage for a potential legal battle in the future. As this case unfolds, it raises questions about the broader implications of the Capitol assault on Trump's political future, as well as the interpretation and application of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment in similar cases across the country.
