Influencers with Lady Shema

🎙️A MEDIA TRIBUTE to the memory of MITZ YOULANDA TURNQUEST In April 2019, I ( Lady Shema Poitier) conceptualized and produced an original radio show titled "INFLUENCERS" Influencers with Lady Shema. The basic premise of the show is to motivate listeners to use the power of their influence to bring about positive change through being inspired by noted Influencers in every sphere of Bahamian society and the international arena. I "Lady Shema" have known Mitzie Youlanda Turnquest for about 7 years, and the single thread of truth that continues to reverberate in every tribute of those who were favoured with the immense treasure of knowing her is that "her presence transformed people and places". Noone left her presence the same, and every organization she attached herself to was always changed for the better. Mitz was a phenomenon! She inspired me in ways that I will only be able to express through truly fulfilling my life's destiny. She said many things to me that forever changed me, but perhaps one of the most memorable and transformational set of words she said to me were - "Lady Shema, the gift you have to first find, and then to pull out a person's story in the most genuine way is incomparable. Don't ever underestimate the masterful way you do this because a person's story is the most powerful thing on earth. The way you do what you do reminds me of people like Oprah, Robin Roberts and Barbara Walters." I still remember these words. She never knew but I cried after she got into her car right after saying these words, because at the time, I was thinking about giving up on Radio because the way had become too hard. Years later I would have the chance to interview her for the third time, and this time, on INFLUENCERS on Guardian Talk Radio 96.9FM shortly after her attempt to gain the PLP candidacy for Yamacraw for the then upcoming Bahamas national elections.
