Abstract: This article exposes part of a research of a teacher who teaches mathematics, based on her personal experiences as a basic education student and during her initial education in pedagogy and professional performance in early childhood education, phenomenological character, and whose theoretical section was presented in narrative format. Therefore, the literature review on theories associated with the research subject was developed in a dialogue format with resear-chers and thinkers considered key to the study. This text presents the dialogues with these authors whose ideas and concepts guided the researcher’s thoughts in a movement of hermeneutic contemplation about their experiences, explaining the want to do pedagogical and opening ways for new questions.

Abstract: The main objective of this article was to reveal contributions that activities focused on financial education based on the theme of inflation brought to new readings and writings of the world of high school students from a critical perspective. The participants were students from a third-year high school class at a state school in the interior of Minas Gerais. In total, ten meetings were held, exploring the topic of inflation in various ways. For this article, we chose one of them, in which we explore calculations related to inflation and reflect on its impacts on society and possible solutions for them. The results showed that the students began to carry out new readings of the world in a process of empowerment, which enabled essays on the writing of the world.

Abstract: In this text, we will present part of a previous study that investigated the use of teaching resources and technologies during the pandemic by teachers who teach mathematics in the public basic education network. The research followed a qualitative-quantitative approach, using the Google Forms tool as a data collection instrument. The data presented was collected with the participation of 430 teachers over 42 days. Given the results, it was observed that many digital technologies began to be used as teaching resources, including WhatsApp and Google Classroom. We hope this work contributes in some way to the teaching of mathematics in the public basic education network and that it can provide support for future studies related to mathematics education.

Abstract: In this quantitative study, prospective primary school teachers’ knowledge of independent events is investigated based on three objectives: 1) classify two given events as independent or non-independent; 2) state the definition of indepen-dent events; and 3) formulate examples of independent events. The study included 37 students attending the 2nd year of the teaching degree in basic education at a university in the north of Portugal, who solved a task about independent events. In terms of results, it should be noted that the students revealed difficulties in all objectives, more pronounced in the formulation of examples of independent events and less in the definition of independent events. Therefore, it can be inferred that many students, despite knowing the definition of independent events, could not apply this knowle-dge to distinguish independent events from non-independent events and formulate examples of independent events.

Abstract: Problem posing is both a learning goal and an effective instructional approach, but what are the details of using this approach to foster students’ learning? In this paper, we use teaching cases to demonstrate a step-by-step instructional model that teachers can use to convert non-problem-posing tasks into problem-posing ones and use the tasks to foster students’ learning. More importantly, we provide a detailed illustration of the four practices that teachers and students can use to handle students’ posed problems. The paper ends with a discussion of future work to validate and improve the model and the challenges that teachers experience teaching through problem posing.

Abstract: This article is an excerpt from a dissertation carried out with students studying Differential and Integral Calculus in the first term of the Information Systems course at the State University of Montes Claros and is based on the theoretical constructs of symbolic interactionism and advanced mathematical thinking, specifically the conceptual image and the conceptual definition of exponential functions. It aimed to understand how and in what way mathematical definitions are used in discussions held in interactions between students and professors during the students’ presentation of a seminar. From the analysis of the data, it was possible to observe divergences between the images and the conceptual definitions of exponential functions and their derivatives. We concluded that the students had made progress in un-derstanding the formal definitions from the advanced mathematical thinking perspective.

Abstract: This work aimed to analyze whether high school students’ production of mathematics video classes enhances their learning. We examined how students learn function concepts when producing video classes. The research was carried out in two classes of the first grade of high school integrated into technical education in the federal network. In one class, students produced video classes, and learning was compared with that of the other class. Qualitative research was adopted, in which data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, field observation, and analysis of video classes produced by students. The video classes students created reproduced the classes they were used to watching, as they did not present innovations and/or different methodologies. Ultimately, we noticed a gain in learning with the video class production process. The students demonstrated the ability to work as a team, gained autonomy in their studies, and presented satisfactory results in the final assessments.
