Urhobo Youth Conference 2024

Join us for the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Youth Wing Ighele World Conference 2024, led by Activist Blessed Oghenero Ughere, National President. The event will take place from Friday, October 18th to Sunday, October 20th, 2024, across Urhoboland, with the main sessions at the Ultra-Modern Urhobo Cultural Centre, Uvwiamughe-Agbarho, Ughelli North LGA, Delta State. The conference is chaired by Amb. Elvis Akpobi, Chairman of the Planning Committee, and Comr. Agbubi Ejovwoke Emmanuel, Secretary.

What is the event about?

This conference will serve as a vital platform for addressing disunity among Urhobo youths and broader community challenges, while also formulating a master plan for economic development in the Urhobo Nation. Discussions will focus on unity, economic growth, and societal advancement, aiming to empower young Urhobos and unlock their full potential for progress.

Who can participate?

The conference welcomes all young Urhobos worldwide, as well as Urhobo youth organizations, leaders of thought, corporate entities operating in Urhoboland, spiritual and political leaders, technocrats, and friends of the Urhobo Nation in Nigeria.

Expected outcomes?

The conference aims to produce actionable recommendations, translating discussions into a strategic plan for youth development across all Urhobo kingdoms. Implementation efforts will be closely monitored, with feedback provided to relevant authorities to ensure meaningful progress.

The World bank, in collaboration with Delta State Government, Federal Ministry of Education and Firmtech Global , urges Deltans to apply for the free digital skills training and empowerment programme, organised for 1000 Deltans.

Induction commences on September the 25th 2024, while Training starts on September the 30th 2024.

The deadline for application is 23rd September, 2024.

People with disabilities and women are largely encouraged to apply.

*Ten candidates for grand finale of Sen Ede Dafinone's Urhobo Language Competition*

The Urhobo Studies Association (USA) has shortlisted 10 candidates for the grand finale of the Sen Ede Dafinone's Urhobo Language Competition 2024 in memory of Sen Pius Akporokena Ewherido.

Fifty candidates participated in the second stage of the competition on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the New Faculty of Arts Complex, Site 3, DELSU Abraka and the following candidates were selected based on their performance: Omonigho Raphael, Inekuku Elo Bright, Amrevwobrise Miracle Oghenevwarho, Akpoyibo Goodnews Avwerosuo, Onoji Ogheneruona, Okperin Ufuoma, Izobo Favour Erighe, Urhobe Onome, Adjekidiphri, Jesuome Hezekiah and Iteye Promise.

It would be recalled that the first stage of the competition took place on Saturday, August 17, 2024 simultaneously at DELSU Abraka, Government College Ughelli and Urhobo College Effurun.

The grand finale will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
