The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has stated plans to engage reputable operations and maintenance companies for the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company and the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company.

The NNPC, in a notice on its website, said this was to ensure reliability and sustainability to meet the nation’s fuel supply and energy security obligations.

The PUNCH recalls that, in January, the NNPC sought private operators to run the Port Harcourt refinery, but it is yet to be known whether or not this has been concluded.

In a notice uploaded on Thursday, the NNPC management said the O&M tender for WRPC and KRPC would be treated as a single tender through a three-stage tender process (expression of interest, technical and commercial) leveraging on all the possible opportunity costs associated with procurement of consumables, personnel/manpower management, utilisation of computerised maintenance management software, warehousing management system, among others.

“The O&M contract scope of work shall cover, but not be limited to, the following: long-term and short-term production/operations planning; Production and operations ex*****on; Monitoring, reporting and optimization of operations; Maintenance planning (short-term); and maintenance ex*****on,” the NNPC stated.

In its financial requirements, the company requested audited accounts for the past four years (2020-2023), including income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement.

It stated that bidders were to provide evidence of their company’s latest credit ratings and the name of the rating agency.

Allegations against Durov, who is also a French citizen, include that his platform is being used for child sexual abuse material and drug trafficking, and that Telegram refused to share information or documents with investigators when required by law.

The first preliminary charge against him was for ‘’complicity in managing an online platform to allow illicit transactions by an organized group,’' a crime that can lead to sentences of up to 10 years in prison and 500,000 euro fine, the prosecutor’s office said.

US Attorney Robert Troester, announced Ojo’s conviction on Monday through a statement on the FAA’s official website, revealing that Ojo had been attempting to obtain a medical certificate necessary for piloting a commercial passenger aircraft, which led to his conviction on August 16, 2024.

Troester noted that the case was part of an investigation by the Transportation Security Administration—Investigations and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jackson Eldridge and Matt Dillon.

He said, “On June 4, 2024, a federal jury returned a two-count superseding indictment against Ojo, charging him with two counts of making a false statement. On August 16, 2024, a federal jury found Ojo guilty on both counts.

“Evidence presented at trial indicated that Ojo, an FAA-certified commercial airline pilot, pleaded guilty to two misdemeanour theft charges on February 8, 2023, in Kentucky state court in connection with a theft of passenger luggage from the baggage carousels at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

“Ojo then made false statements to the FAA in March 2023 and March 2024 while applying for an FAA First Class Medical Certificate to conceal his history of prior criminal convictions. A First Class Medical Certificate permits an airman to pilot commercial passenger aircraft.”

The convict faces a potential sentence of up to five years in federal prison, along with fines of up to $250,000 for each count.

Organised Labour has called on Nigerians to be patient with the Federal and State Governments following the delay in the implementation of the new minimum wage.

This was even as the workers’ union absolved the Federal Government of any wrongdoing, saying it would be unfair to conclude that there was a deliberate attempt to avoid paying the new minimum wage.

The Deputy President of Nigeria Labour Congress Political Commission, Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, stated this in an interview with our correspondent on Monday.

President Bola Tinubu signed the new minimum wage into law on July 29 after meeting with leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has confirmed that the Federal Government is paying subsidies on the petrol it imports into the country.

Though the NNPCL denied paying fuel subsidies to marketers in the last nine months, it said the government allows it to sell at a price below the landing cost

The company’s Chief Financial Officer, Alhaji Umar Ajiya, made the clarifications on Monday in Abuja.

Ajiya said the company was only handling petrol importation shortfalls between it and the federation.
