April 9th, 1912, midday - A fairly new find, this highly detailed photo of Titanic in Southampton sold in April of 2017, forty years after being purchased among other ephemera at a Paris flea market. It is believed to have been taken some time on April 9th, 1912 - one day before sailing. Note both the window washers polishing B-Deck stateroom panes below Boat #5, and, harder to see, two painters slung underneath her forward well deck, likely hitting rust spots in preparation for tomorrow's departure.

Titanic Live: April 14, 1912, 11.39 PM - Peeking into the darkness ahead of the ship, lookouts Frederick Fleet and Reginald Lee suddenly see a looming shape, blacker than the horizon of the moonless sky. Three bells and a call to the bridge conveys the message to Sixth Officer Moody - "Iceberg just ahead", replied with a quick "Thank you."

First Officer Murdoch, who sighted the ice simultaneously from the starboard bridge wing, orders the ship to turn sharply to starboard after signaling "All Ahead Stop" from the bridge's telegraph. Boatswain Robert Hichens spins the wheel, the engine telegraph rings in response, and an agonizing thirty-seven seconds elapses.

Yamato (大和) was the lead ship of her class of battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) shortly before World War II. She and her sister ship, Musashi, were the heaviest and most powerfully armed battleships ever constructed.

Red Jacket era um navio clipper , um dos maiores e mais rápidos já construídos. Ela também foi o primeiro navio da companhia White Star Line . Ela recebeu o nome de Sagoyewatha , um famoso chefe índio Seneca , chamado de "Jaqueta Vermelha" pelos colonos. Ele foi projetado por Samuel Hartt Pook , construído por George Thomas em Rockland, Maine , e lançado em 1853, o último navio a ser lançado deste estaleiro.
