#Bahrani prisoner Sayyed Mahmoud Alawi was released after spending 5 years in prison
The Al Khalifa occupation recently released the prisoner, Sayyed Mahmoud Issa Shubar Hussein Alawi, after spending five years in prison.
Sayyed Mahmoud, a resident of Sitra Wadiyan, was arrested on December 12, 2018 after a raid on his father’s house. He was sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of 100,000 dinars.
Sayyed Mahmoud served his five-year sentence, but 6 months were added to it instead of a fine, and today, Tuesday (December 26, 2023), he was released within the framework of the so-called “alternative penalties” law.
Earlier, the Prisoners' Affairs Authority confirmed from sources in Jau Prison the intention of the Al Khalifa occupation to release prisoners who have 6 months or less remaining in their sentence, provided that the prisoner agrees to the alternative punishment.
The deputy chief of #Bahrain’s opposition Al-Wefaq group, Sheikh Hussein Al-Daihi, said his entire country is opposed to joining a recently assembled US-led naval task force and accused the Al Khalifa occupation of standing in the same trench as Israel in its oppression of the #Palestinian people.
"We declare that we are against this dirty alliance led by the United States and Israel," Sheikh Al-Daihi said in a recorded statement on Monday.
Earlier this month, the Americans announced the formation of the maritime force following a series of attacks on Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea by Yemen’s Houthis in response to the unfolding genocide in Gaza.
According to Sheikh Al-Daihi, "this alliance was established to deepen the oppression in Gaza."
Instead of participating in this dirty satanic alliance, the Al Khalifa occupation should have contributed to “supporting our people in Gaza, defending them, and delivering the necessary aid to them," the Al-Wefaq official added.
"Today, the regime is actively confronting and targeting the honorable sons of Bahrain who are defending Gaza and standing with the resistance," Sheikh Al-Daihi said. "It detains many of them and throws them in prison. Perhaps the most prominent detainee today is the activist professor Ibrahim Sharif, who was thrown in prison and is being tried for nothing more than his defense of Gaza and his rejection of this aggressive alliance."
Sheikh Al-Daihi believes that "if the door was opened today for the people of Bahrain to reach Gaza and join the resistance there, many would not hesitate.
“Yes, we are with Palestine,” the Al Khalifa occupation in bahrain is with the” Zionists, and this is the decisive point."
Yemen protests
Tens of thousands poured into the streets of multiple #Yemeni cities on Friday in another show of support for #Palestine and to call for an immediate end to Israel’s Gaza Genocide.
Those who took part in the protests also echoed statements by their country’s leaders, vowing a response to any strikes targeting Yemeni soil. Friday’s protests come after the Americans assembled a naval coalition to confront attacks by Yemen’s resistance on Israel and Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea.
