Banitza’s aim is to offer you a gaze into things out there that are both interesting and important to the world we live in. It’s a powerful lens into the banal and unseen, at first sight at least, bringing you subjects you didn’t know you were fascinated with before. We also we aim to utilise our knowledge and experience in politics and international affairs and share our own views and analyses on
issues ranging from terrorism to processes of democratization. That is why we named our blog after the layered pastry called Banitza – it’s got quite a few bits and pieces, yet it’s eloquent and stimulating. Our third aim is to work towards a kind of archaeology of our world, a history of our present. What we mean by that is as our world becomes more diversified, complex, and interconnected, the boundaries between today and yesterday blur and become indistinguishable. We are rather casting a critical gaze towards the past to illuminate the practices that shape our society today.
