Dear Customer,
We are proud to announce the launch of our first bag collection, something we have dreamt of doing since we launced Ateliers Phileas !
The PTT (“Postal Telegraph & Telephone”) Satchel is a handmade mid-sized shoulder bag inspired by a vintage French postman bag from the 1960’s from our collection.
Our aim was to design a vintage style bag suited to modern everyday needs, using the best possible materials for a reasonable price.
The satchel can be used on the shoulder or crossbody, or carried by the included handle. The strap is removable and adjustable in length.
Compact looks hide a roomy interior, with space for a laptop, 2-3 notebooks in leather covers, a magazine or slim book, glasses case and pen case and more. The inside pocket will keep your wallet or smartphone safe.
The bag is made from an exceptional Italian leather, which is produced in Tuscany. The leather is vegetable tanned by methods used since the middle ages, characterised by exceptional durability and finish.
Every hide we use for the PTT satchel has been hand selected at the tannery and is guaranteed to be of their highest quality.
As usual, we have paid a lot of attention to details : all edges are hand decorated and hand painted for beauty and to keep them hard wearing. All of the metal fittings are made of solid raw brass for beauty and durability.
The Passepartout collection is inspired by Jean Passepartout, a character in Jules Verne’s novel “Around the World in Eighty Days”, published in 1873. He is the French valet of the novel’s main character, Phileas Fogg. Passepartout translates literally to “goes everywhere”, but “passepartout” also means “skeleton key” in French.
Passepartout collection products all share a high level of practicality in an exquisite, no frills design with top level materials and workmanship.
The Passepartout PTT Satchels are available now from our store.
Yours sincerely,
Ateliers Phileas
