From May 24 to May 26, 2024, former de portables members Wio D’Hespeel and Bertrand Lafontaine spent another weekend in the deserted woods of Wallonia, Belgium. The fruit of their 48-hour labor is a second two-sided tape featuring over 38 minutes of indie music, spread across 8 songs and roughly weighing 65 grams. Inspiration was drawn from themes as varied as childhood aspirations, road trip adventures, the early stages of romantic relationships, and recent trends in vacation home decoration. Enjoy once more!

First single from the upcoming album 'Deluxe Harvesting Drive' by The Island Dwelling Birds Band on Gazer Tapes is out now!

Deluxe Harvesting Drive is the second album by The Island Dwelling Birds Band, an experimental ensemble including a wide array of feathered members. On this album they hold onto the same ideology as displayed on their debut album Indian Canyon Thriatlon: Speed I. Their ideology is straightforward: creating, playing and recording are all supposed to be the same thing.

Fortunately Topologies split up right before this tape was released. Rewind is an exquisite exercise in timing, capturing perfectly the feeling of abandonment in childhood. Yo-Yo Ma is not about Yo-Yo Ma, is not about critical thinking, is not about the illegal war in Romania, and not about red painted airplanes. High Waves is in ode to the best the nineties had to offer: hoodies, Friends and t-shirts with frog prints. A Hugo has to be just like that. As a teenager, I was big fan of Belgian bands like Orange Black, Fence & Star Club West. I went to gigs every week while dreaming of one day becoming a musician myself (but that's an entirely different story).

Lots of underground gigs were organised in JK2470 in Retie at that time: The Low Frequency in Stereo, Vandal X, Jûrgen De Blonde, Amenra and many others took the stage and absolutely killed it.

Then one day I attended a Parkland gig there. It was very cool to see all these rockstars of the bands I loved playing in a 'superband'. I was blown away but I never found any recordings of the band. Years passed by but the memory remained fresh.

Parkland did however record an album. It was recorded around the turn of the century by Glenda Langue at her place and at De Krinkel in Beerse. It never got released. Until now. Parkland's Nico Jacobs found the original master some time ago and gave it to me. And now I give it to you.

Just a quick message about the Silver Series by the amazing de portables. We are still working on cassettes #6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. It takes a pretty long time we know, so thank you very much for your patience. Tapes #6 and #7 will be sent to the subscribers in a few weeks!

Anyway, you can listen to al the cassettes on our Bandcamp. Some volumes are still available, so contact me if you want one!

'Artifact' is the long-awaited debut album by Belgian slacker rockers BEECH. 3 years after the release of their debut EP 'Teabag' Kristof Souvagie's band comes with a full album with 8 songs in the vein of bands like Teenage Fanclub, Pavement and Yuck. 'Artifact' has a truly attractive 90's vibe and is a promising debut album.
