The Weeping Walk - Waarom Wettelen - a film by Dimitri Verhulst will close the 51st edition of Film Fest Gent! 🙏

📽️ Debuutfilm ‘Waarom Wettelen’ van Dimitri Verhulst sluit de 51ste editie van Film Fest Gent af op zaterdag 19 oktober!

Met ‘Waarom Wettelen’ doet Dimitri Verhulst waar hij goed in is: absurde cinema op het scherpst van de snee. Net als in zijn verfilmde roman ‘De Helaasheid der dingen’ neemt hij het rurale Vlaanderen en de bij momenten hilarische dorpse sfeer die er heerst op de korrel.

Een unieke filmervaring die Vlaanderen op een schalks en humoristische manier verkent. Met een indrukwekkende cast en sterke visuele stijl is ‘Waarom Wettelen’ dé afsluiter van het festival. Mis de Belgische première niet! 🇧🇪

De productie van ‘Waarom Wettelen’ is van Eurydice Gysel en Koen Mortier voor CZAR Belgium, in coproductie met Marc Van Warmerdam en Marten Van Warmerdam van het Nederlandse Graniet Film. De film kwam tot stand met de steun van het Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds (VAF/Filmfonds van Vlaams minister van Cultuur), het Nederlands Filmfonds (NFF), Screen Flanders en Creative Europe Media Desk Vlaanderen. BNP Paribas Fortis België Film Finance investeerde als Belgische Tax Shelter-investeerder in de film en Dutch FilmWorks (DFW) en Kinepolis Film Distribution (KFD) brengen de film uit in de Benelux.
