MUST HAVE SKILLS AS A CONTENT CREATOR

✅Writing and Editing
Writing and proofreading are some of the most important — if not the most important — skills a content creator can have. Unless you’re strictly involved in graphic design as an individual contributor, it’s likely that there are words to be written, especially if you want to grow your business as a digital content creator.

✅Graphic Design
As a content creator, you may be asked for graphic mock-ups, assets for social posts, infographics, or other pieces of visual content to supplement writing. Depending on the situation, you may have support in this area, but it’s even better if you have basic photo editing and graphic design skills to create suitable placeholders. Not only does this increase work efficiency, it makes you more marketable as well. As a content creator, you mustn't delegate or outsource every little design task on your table. You must be able to do basic graphic designs on tools like Canva, Photoshop, sketch, Figma , Affinity designer or Gimp

✅Video Editing
Again, you may or may not encounter this based on the type of work you do, but basic video editing is another skill that’s great to have in your repertoire as a creator. You may be asked to convert a blog post into a video script or you may be tasked with creating short-form videos for social media.
As a video editor you need to get used to tools like Capcut, Adobe premiere Pro, canva etc

✅Social Media Management
When it comes to social, a working knowledge of the various platforms — think LinkedIn, TikTok, facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, pinterest etc. — and how they perform from a content distribution and community management standpoint is key.

You cannot kill a burning passion.

Factoring passion into your decision can to an extent guarantee you some success. This is especially true because you will spend more time and burn down calories doing what you truly love. This if persistently done with some added strong values, success will be on the way. You will have months of sleepless nights and invest in resources that will help you reach your goal.

In 2005 I was so passionate about advertising on the internet that I descended to Brussels at Fnac to buy my first book in internet marketing as it was called by then. Advertisement in the Yahoo era was limited to contextual ads and clickable banners . I couldn't understand how keyword research could help you write contents that attract traffic to your eCommerce store or website. I couldn’t explain how guys were making money from niche blogging. Searching for a book to understand how this happened took me to FNAC Brussels where all sorts of books are sold.

I couldn’t follow up because I was overwhelmed by a job that allowed me to pay my bills and most often exhausted by fatigue. Suppressing a deep embedded passion is definitely impossible because sometimes they are right in our DNA. For over a decade, I have been researching and gathering the most precious resources in digital marketing. I have invested thousands of dollars in the best courses to get trained.
When you follow your passion,the financial worth of your passion should also be factored in . Do not follow a vanity passion, one that cannot permit you to pay your bills and take care of yourself.

Digital marketing has some huge financial potentials. Its application in our digital age is in all geographies without any boundary. Digital marketing can save all verticals from a plumber who wants to sell his services locally , an ecommerce that wants to pull more web traffic or even an academic institution attempting to amass more enrollments from college prospects. A good digital strategy in the above mentioned cases will have the job effectively done. In short, digital marketing is ubiquitous. On the hard part,it needs constant learning as it evolves with technology and regular updates with algorithms.
