TUI fly Invests in VENYO Sim for Pilot Training
The Belgian airline TUI fly continues to grow and has selected the Belgian company VENYO to install a Fixed Base Simulator (FBS) at its headquarters at Zaventem. The simulator will be a valuable tool for the students of the pilot academy that was launched in 2017 by TUI fly. Thanks to this tool, the future pilots will be trained to comply with the procedures and requirements of the airline, in actual flight conditions. The simulator will also facilitate the ongoing training of pilots already working for the airline. The simulator was installed at the end of May. It will be certified in early June and will be ready for the first training sessions in September.
TUI fly is Belgium’s 2nd largest airline. The company was established in 2004 and has grown continuously since then. In 2017, the airline started its own pilot academy in order to train the best possible pilots and at the same time reduce the financial participation of the candidates. This year, TUI fly goes one step further and invests over in the installation of a Fixed Base Simulator. This simulator will not only be used for the training of student pilots, but also for the pilots already employed by TUI fly, who have to practice on a simulator on a regular basis.
André Berger, Director Flight Operations TUI fly Benelux: “This new simulator is very innovative: it makes use of cutting-edge technology that reproduces the flight schedules of the Boeing 737, thus enabling us to offer high-quality training at a reduced price. In future we aim to use this simulator and other similar ones for most of the training of the pilots. Thanks to this tool, we will take another important step towards preparing our pilots for any eventuality. Certain potential situations that used to be dealt with while flying a real aircraft can now be practised safely and in an in-depth manner.”
VENYO is a company established at the Aéropole Science Park at Charleroi. It’s in this hub of Belgium’s aeronautical industry that the idea was first considered in 2009 to create a professional flight simulator of the B737 Next Generation type, which is revolutionary in quite some aspects. The visionary idea resulted in a prototype that was revealed and presented to the major players of the industry at the Paris Air Show of 2013. Following the extremely positive reactions of experts from the sector, an ambitious industrial project was launched. Finally, after much hard work by passionate people, Venyo is now able to offer airlines and aeronautical training centres around the globe a professional flight simulator that is certified by EASA and by far exceeds the other Fixed Base training tools available on the market.
Fabrice Cornet, Founder & CTO de Venyo Europe. “High-quality Fixed Base Simulators like the one we offer are becoming increasingly popular to replace the expensive FFS (Full Flight Simulators) for the hours of training during which the movements of the cockpit are not strictly necessary. We are delighted that TUI fly shares our vision and has supported our project from the very start. We are proud to be the partner of TUI fly for its pilot academy. This is a unique opportunity for us, as we can rely on the efficient cooperation of TUI fly's pilots and instructors in order to perfect our product."
