Headline’s Jorne Van Damme was scrambled to Valencia in Spain last week with our long-term client Tony Connelly, Europe Editor of RTE. They covered the tragic flash flooding, and the subsequent rescue efforts. Here is a picture taken by Jorne.

Our thoughts are with Stijn De Smet who used to work as a cameraman at Headline. He has been shot in his leg in Beirut while fiming for VTM. We wish him a all the best and a speedy recovery.

VTM-journalist Robin Ramaekers en cameraman Stijn De Smet zijn in Beiroet gewond geraakt. Ze zijn aangevallen toen ze, samen met hun fixer, een reportage wilden maken over de gevolgen van de Israëlische luchtaanval op een aan Hezbollah gelinkt gezondheidscentrum in het Bachoura-district, in het centrum van de stad. Dat heeft DPG Media bevestigd aan de redactie van het persagentschap Belga. Verdere details over wat er gebeurd is, zijn nog niet bekend gemaakt. Bij de aanval zijn minstens zes mensen omgekomen.

Ramaekers en De Smet zijn niet in levensgevaar. De redactie van DPG Media heeft intussen met beiden kunnen praten. Ze zijn gewond, maar zouden het gezien de omstandigheden goed stellen. Ramaekers wordt onder meer verzorgd voor breuken in zijn gezicht. De Smet is in zijn been geschoten en wordt in een ander ziekenhuis verzorgd.

"We doen er alles aan om hen te helpen", zegt Nicholas Lataire, directeur News City, de overkoepelende nieuwsredactie van HLN en VTM. "We hebben contact met Robin en Stijn en ook met hun families. Ook de Belgische ambassade is ingeschakeld en begeleidt onze collega's ter plaatse. We doen er alles aan om hen zo snel mogelijk terug thuis te brengen." (belga)

We are looking for an: Accounting operations analyst

Headline NFP is looking for an ambitious and driven accounting analyst to manage the client invoicing and supplier invoice processing as well as Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions for the Company working closely with the Finance team at the Group Head Office.

Position overview

You will be responsible for accounting operations requirements for the company including collating all the necessary information to produce the monthly client invoices, managing the approval process for supplier invoices, input of sales and purchase invoices into the accounting system, recording receipts and payments in the system, liaising with the accountants regarding any invoice queries for TVA reporting purposes and ensuring clients pay promptly to agreed terms. Experience of working with Belgian payroll providers would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

- Production of the monthly sales invoices.
- Mange approval process of all supplier invoices and input into the accounting system.
- Liaise with clients and suppliers regarding any invoice queries that arise.
L- iaise with the external accountants regarding and queries they have re TVA returns or annual accounts.
- Provide monthly reports to the Group head office finance function.
- Track client revenues and direct costs
- Track monthly salaries
- Assist with tenders and client pitches
- Process monthly payroll requirements with the payroll bureau.

Essential Skills & Experience

- Proven experience (5 years) in accounting operations departments of Belgian and /or International companies.
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems including Venice and Sage.
- Knowledge of SD Works or other payroll provider systems.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills inc. Flemish, French and English
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment .
- Strong team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate.

The position is a freelance role and on average the equivalent of approximately 3 days a week.

Your day rate will be market rate commensurate with your experience and skills.
