Russia's war in Ukraine is unjustifiable and illegal and its disinformation poses a real threat.

In a resolution, MEPs have voted in favour of sanctions against Russian media outlets, enhancing fact-checking rules and rejecting Russian attempts to justify its war of aggression against Ukraine.

Parliament has called on the European Commission to strictly enforce the Digital Services Act in a bid to counter the recent relaxation of moderation rules by major social media companies. They have expressed their deep concern that this latest development will further enable Russia’s disinformation campaign to spread around the world.

MEPs have also rejected Russia’s historical claims about Ukraine as a means to justify an illegal war.

In a resolution adopted on Thursday, MEPs condemn the Russian regime’s systematic falsification of historical arguments to justify its illegal war of aggression against Ukraine.
