This week, the European Parliament is conducting Committee Hearings for the European Commission!

In these hearings, members of the European Parliament assess Commissioners-designate to ensure that they have the independence, expertise, and commitment to serve Europe effectively.

On Monday, the Committee on Culture and Education held a hearing with Commissioner designate Glenn Micallef (Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture, and Sport portfolio). Mr. Micallef outlined his plans to foster fairness across generations, prioritize youth mental health, and address challenges in the creative, cultural, and audiovisual sectors—particularly around AI. He also expressed a strong commitment to improving working conditions for artists and cultural workers.

Currently, the Committee on Culture and Education are in the process of assessing his performance and evaluation.🇪🇺

Today is World Tsunami Awareness day.
🌊🐾 LUX-nominated film FLOW follows a cat who, after being displaced by a massive flood, must rely on a diverse group of strangers for survival. Along the way, he learns the importance of working together and appreciating each other's differences.

Natural disasters like floods and forest fires are becoming increasingly common across the EU, highlighting the urgent issue of climate change. The European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for increased climate fund contributions, the end of fossil fuel subsidies by 2025, and ambitious goals for renewable energy by 2030.
