Everyone knows René Magritte, the famous Surrealist painter. But we bet most of you don’t know that Magritte had lots of fun filming improvised sketches or parodies of well-known movie scenes with a home camera. This one, Masques, was filmed in Brussels in 1956–1957. First you see his wife Georgette and friend Irène Hamoir slowly uncovering their faces. René’s good friend Louis Scutenaire sits down, completely covered with a white sheet. At the end René himself appears, in a detective-like look.
➡️ Tomorrow we’ll be giving away a copy of our book René Magritte The Revealing Image, so stay tuned.
