- The first section offers our readers an objective view of current news and international relations through articles that have been written in collaboration with people with first-hand knowledge and academic experts; there are interviews with government figures, and meeting points with top-level decision makers from business.

- The second section of the magazine is devoted to art, culture, elegant living, voyages of discovery, gastronomy and leisure. Thus, turning the pages, the reader learns about the latest collections of couture clothes and jewellery, or the subtleties of taste and bouquet of some superb vintage wines; here is a small corner of Paradise to which the reader can escape and settle down for a good read. 🇩🇯 Had the pleasure to be received by the Ambassador of Djibouti to the EU, Benelux and Scandinavia, H.E. Aden Mohamed Dileita.

It was fascinating to learn about this country located at the southern entrance to the Read Sea and therefore at the intersection of major international shipping lines connecting Asia, Africa and Europe; and acting as the main maritime gateway for the landlocked countries of the region.

Djibouti has been working to enhance its position as a regional logistics and commercial hub and soon you will be able to read about it in the pages of Diplomatic World.

Ahead of Queen Mathilde’s visit to Costa Rica 🇨🇷 next week in her position as Honorary President of UNICEF Belgium, we had the pleasure of meeting the Central American country’s Ambassador in Brussels, H.E. Eliana Villalobos Cárdenas.

We were also briefed on the preparations towards the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), which will be taking place in Nice from 9-13 June 2025, co-organised by the governments of France and Costa Rica.

💡 Interesting fact about Costa Rica: it is one of the few countries in the world without a standing army, which was constitutionally abolished in 1949. This has allowed Costa Rica to be an example of a pacifist nation, redirecting funds into environment, education and health.

At the conclusion of a two-day visit to Brussels, we had the honour to sit with Egypt’s Foreign Minister, H.E. Badr Abdelatty, to discuss the outcomes of his visit which included talks with Belgian and EU authorities.

The Foreign Minister spoke about the development of the EU-Egypt Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership, signed last year; as well as the implementation of projects held at the 2024 Egypt-EU investment conference with the participation of numerous Belgian companies.

Furthermore, the Minister addressed challenges facing the Middle East, the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa, in addition to their impact on the region’s security and stability. He stressed the importance of honouring the commitments of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, achieved thanks to the efforts of international mediation, including Egypt’s.
