High Carbon, the new album by Heleen Van Haegenborgh, is out today!

With High Carbon, Heleen returns to her roots as a pianist. In recent years, she has composed for a remarkable range of ensembles, from recorders to foghorns and now brings all those experiences together in a solo work that balances intensity and subtlety.

She doesn’t think in stories or boxes, but in colours, energy, and texture. Her signature use of inside piano techniques and wires, which she has explored since 2008, takes a central role - alongside electronics that sometimes merge with the piano, sometimes chart their own course.

Every detail - composition, electronics, performance - is shaped by Heleen herself.
An intimate and precise exploration of sound and atmosphere.
