Some projects go beyond visuals.

They remind us why we create in the first place.

Together with Co-ncept Jeugdhulp, we created a short animated film around “Impactvol Reflecteren”, a methodology that supports professionals working with children and young people when collaboration becomes complex or gets stuck.

Across youth care, education and healthcare, everyone wants the best for children and their network. Yet even with strong intentions, change isn’t always easy. Impactvol Reflecteren offers structure, shared language and direction, helping teams pause, reflect and move forward together.

For us at Skerm West, this project aligns deeply with our values and beliefs:
• Using our craft to make complex stories understandable
• Contributing to projects that have real social impact
• Supporting professionals who make a difference every day

We believe visual storytelling can create space — for reflection, connection and change. And that’s exactly what this project stands for. We’re grateful to contribute our craft to a project where creativity serves something bigger than itself.

🎬✨ Welkom in de magische wereld van Cinema De Keizer ✨🎬

Tijdens Kunstendag voor Kinderen in november opende Cultuurhuis De Keizer de deuren van Cinema De Keizer, de oudste cinema van België, voor jonge ontdekkers met een hart voor film en verbeelding. Samen met Keizertje stapten kinderen en gezinnen binnen in een speels en fantasierijk verhaal waar cinema en geschiedenis elkaar ontmoetten. 👑📽️

In deze korte video, geprojecteerd in de zaal aan het begin van de beleving, nodigde Keizertje het publiek uit om de cinema te verkennen:
🎥 ze namen een kijkje in oude projectoren,
🌟 ontmoetten filmsterren van vroeger,
✂️ en knutselden zelfs een mini-Keizertje om mee naar huis te nemen.

Voor dit project met Cultuurhuis De Keizer (Lichtervelde) bracht Skerm West Keizertje tot leven en verweefde hem in cinematische beelden in en rond de zaal. Zo werd het verhaal versterkt en kreeg de beleving extra diepgang, helemaal op maat van een jong publiek.

Last year we helped UFX Studios with the look development of the magic FX coming from the board game "The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow". 🐺

First we iterated some ideas on still images using Photoshop and AI prompting, to later develop the FX in the keyshots.

At Skerm West, we believe authenticity comes from imperfection. For the animated show EXIT TALES, currently in early production, we developed a unique effect that makes digital coloring feel truly hand-drawn—like a child coloring outside the lines, moment by moment.

We developed a compositing technique that recreates the organic, ever-changing quality of crayon or marker strokes coming from a child’s hand. Every frame, slightly different. Because when a child tells a story, nothing stands still. Authenticity is in the imperfections. And that’s what brings stories to life.
