Also pretty impressive was this IS-3 heavy tank. A Russian beast in action. Smoking blue smoke as apparently every Russian tank ( do they have bigger tolerances on engine parts or something? Seems like they all burn oil like a 2-stroke, fill me in on that cause I don't yave an answer to that, might be mass production or lack of quality control, I don't know ). Running on pure off-road tracks , pure steel, it was LOUD. And very cool to see. And really big. If you see it up close you can clearly see how crude it is. The welds, the casting of the turret... It all seems assembeled as if it doesn't really matter if it's good. As long as it's a heavy MF, it's cool. Nut anyways, a really impressive machinery to see in action.

A little throwback to Sept. 8th 2019 when there was a huge parade of cars, motorcycles, jeeps, trucks and tanks rolling from the Ardennes through Belgium and right into Holland. I was very lucky they drove through my town and I could see them drive by. All of them. Just so impressive. Everybody dressed up, soldiers, crews and civilians. It was like being in a time-machine movie. And the sound and the smells....magic. gave me goosebumps for hours.
The " first in Bastogne" tank was also in the parade as seen again driving at the Bastogne Nuts weekend. Keep 'em running boys!! My little girl was 4 then and was scared of a Sherman roaring by with some serious backfires. We went home and I jumped back on my push-bike to the next town to see it all again from the start. She is 9 now and always excited to see any war museum or military parade or airshow. How things can change.
Seeing a whole town dressed up and celebrating with beers, flags and some Glenn Miller music blasting. Damn, it gets to me every time. A very very little taste of how it was in my imagination. Bless them all.
Another surprise (although not expected at the Bastogne Nuts Weekend) was the Cockerill- IX 4x4. Equiped with a 750hp, 200km/h V8 and based on a stadiumtruck/Baja 1000 truck chassis. It has a deployable extending 360° turret that can hold different cal. weapons included anti-armor rockets. At top speed it still has a 85% target hit possility. They lock on target , speed off and shoot while driving ultra fast. The sound of that beast was mind blowing. Just like an armed Nascar drifting round the base. Mighty impressive. A serious Belgian producted added to to its already endless list of weapons created through the centuries. To be proud of? Don't know, but still very cool to see.
Saw the King Tiger at La Gleize lots of times and saw this one in Antwerp a few weeks ago but seeing and hearing it rolling that's some other cake. Fantastic. Another thing to scrap of my list! 👌🏻
